Best play of the night was Farley's onside kick recovery. That was a senior captain making and damn smart football play.

Man, I love Farley.
Can we stop calling BC the top d in the country? Statistically, maybe it's true but they gave up 34 to Clemson, 26 to Virginia Tech, 17 to Louisville, and 24 to North Carolina State in the last month.
We torched em too, just couldn't make catches or keep control of the ball. I don't know what's with this team, but we've been like the wicked witch of the west under kelly. A little bit of rain and our fundamentals just melt away.
They took away the run, the qb run, the qb pass and our number one WR.
That was an epic amount of defense and if they even have half an offense they win that game hands down.
To be fair............ Kizer was 20/38, 320 yards, and 2 TDs.

Who did I bet all my Vbucks that we would win out?
I purged my PM's and lost it. It was someone with a lot more
cash than me!.. so it must be a vet.
Grahambo? TKO? BGIF?
1. This was an ugly game, and you just want to come out on the winning end of these kinds of games. We did that. There's no sense in speculating what the CFP Committee will do on Tuesday. Tuesday will come soon enough, and we will know for sure.
2. As ugly as it was, there were some highlights: I believe they said that Fuller went over 1,000 yards for the second season in a row. And Prosise is over 1,000 yards rushing. So that's good.
3. This BC defense was #1 defense against the run; #5 against the pass; #1 in total defense, and #3 is scoring. ND put up almost 450 yards and almost 20 points. And they did this despite Will Fuller not having an official touch until, what, the 3rd Quarter?
4. Just about everyone said, before the season, that they would be happy with a 10 win season, this year. And that was BEFORE Zaire and Folston were lost for the season. There's no guarantee of making the playoffs, but even if they don't, this team has had a great season.
5. It looked to me, in the first half, like most of the turnovers were the result of players trying too hard to make that extra yard or two, or to make a play on each and every snap. Sometimes you just have to play within yourself, and let the game play out naturally.
6. I'm a little concerned about Kelly's post game interview on the field where he was asked about KVR and Prosise, heading into next week at Stanford. He responded, "Well, we'll just get the next guys ready to play...." So it doesn't sound good on the injury front
On a very sloppy night, my game ball is going to Justin Yoon, who has solidified the kicking game. I'm very happy with the performance of the freshman this year.
.
True...but how many interceptions? All the yards in the world mean dick if you don't score. It could have been 42-0...would a coulda shoulda.
Let's not sugar coat how tough completing those 20 passes were. Every pass was defended well and few were truly open that he attempted and he threw several more that could have been picked. But outside of two drives really he struggled and his receivers did not help him at all. They was a time where he was 0-8 on pass attempts. What concerns me is he had to throw 38 times. If you want to protect your young QB run the ball. Well Procise goes down and they immediately start chucking it all over the place.
I know what you were saying. And stats line don't tell the whole story.I was just saying that BC didn't take away the QB pass. We gained 300+ yards and scored 2 TDs via the passing game.

But whatever... not doing this.
Jaylon needs to work on his hands?

After sleeping on it, the most disappointing thing to me about the game is that the coaches did their part. The game plan was great. We attacked them effectively with Carlisle and Brown all game as they double covered Fuller. We successfully turned the corner many times with Prosise, and had some big runs (BC has only given up three 30 yard runs this year... we have one of them).
But players make plays... not coaches. 5 turnovers, not a single one of them was a "good" turnover (like an effort play that goes awry) Really could've been 7 or 8 turnovers.
70 yard kick return... why? That's 3 points.
80 yard TD run... why? How do you blow your assignments that badly against a QB that CAN ONLY RUN THE BALL. That's 7 (well, 6) points.
Garbage time TD to make the score look bad... why? Can't get two turnovers that were there for the taking, bad execution of spying the QB despite playing zone, lackadaisical pass rush. And because we're playing our starters longer than we should be, KVR gets hurt. So 7 points and an injury kicker. Yay.
Maybe this team rallies for Stanford, but this awfully reminiscent of the injury death spiral that culminated in our loss to Northwestern followed shortly after by a west coast trip that did not go well. I have little faith that this defense can keep Stanford under 35 points.
I'm not sure what you mean by the bolded. If I am recalling correctly, the outcome was still in doubt when Russell got hurt. Are you suggesting that we should pull our starters in the 4thQ, even if the game is not in hand?
Look, I'm sorry. I'm sure your statement that BC's defense took away the QB pass was probably just born out of frustration with how the game went down. But all I did was point out that the passing game was not shut down. I didn't claim that we had a prolific, or even great, night passing the ball. So please don't "whatever" me, just because you misspoke and I pointed it out.

Obviously not. I'm suggesting that if we didn't play like assholes and put the game away 42-0 like we should've he -- and others -- could've been resting virtually the whole 4th quarter.
But you are assuming that we SHOULD HAVE been up 42-0. And I just don't think that's an accurate assumption. The most any team has scored on BC in the first half of a game this year was 20 pts., by Virginia Tech. They gave up 17 in the first half to Clemson and Louisville, and I don't think anyone else scored double digits in the first half on them. So that's not really a fair assumption, to say we SHOULD HAVE been up 42-0, or even that the game should be essentially over after 3 quarters. It could have worked out that way, if we had converted all of our RZ chances into TDs. But BC's defense is #7 in RZ Defense. In 27 trips into the RZ, opponents had converted only 8 TDs, going into last night's game. It's not like this was some kind of glorified scrimmage. There's plenty to work on and clean up, based on last night. But to blame Russell's injury on us not putting the #1 defense in the country away in 3 quarters just doesn't seem right.
I think all the injuries are finally catching up with the team. I guess the game plan against ND is to be extremely physical and strip the ball. Sounds like the epitome of what we'll see next week, only they'll be a top 10 team.
The good thing I do see is that when times are going rough next week, we'll have Kizer trying to rally and not Golsen moping.
