For some context here, and not directly speaking to him but the group of LB's we're currently going for, after Loy spoke about Alloway going after Lokeni. Wiltfong mentioned that we're not even recruiting Lokeni that much at the present. There are LB's they like that much more. I'm assuming that Jeffrey is one they really like.

Wasn't he and Kelly talking daily? Given that's true, seems odd that he'd cancel. Did something come up?

At this point we all want to read things into tweets, rumors and blurbs.

It hard reading into events when on the outside. There is always the possibility anything we see, whether reported accurately or not, can mean exactly the opposite of what it appears.

Maybe this kid and his family needs to save the time or money more than they need to see the campus right now. Or maybe there is an issue that affects his recruitment that we don't know. I would be patient on this one, just a feeling, and opinion.

I think he's a better scheme fit in a 3-4 but goddamn do I want him on the team. Anybody think he can grow into a DE?

I agree.

All this stuff about being a 3-4 linebacker, and growing into a defensive end?

Maybe. But I don't think so.

To put this kid in perspective, right now he is just a little bit smaller than Jaylon Smith.

Did you see his Opening performance. Kid is an absolute physical freak! Seriously.

Kid may not be quite as polished as Smith, nor have quite the upside, but that is irrelevant. Get this kid! He can play any linebacker position, and maybe a couple of others for good measure!

Per Anna, schools he is considering for OVs are Michigan, Texas, UCLA, Notre Dame, Stanford, Oregon, Alabama, Florida. He's looking at the ND/USC game. Talks to BK or Elston regularly

I really like this kid, and hope he stays in contact. I can't see how a kid like he appears to be, with the skills he obviously has, can't or won't fall in love with BVG's defense and ND. Here is to a successful recruitment!

Scout (VIDEO): Jeffrey McCulloch is Taking an Official Visit to Notre Dame

Jeffrey McCulloch, a 6-foot-2 1/2, 225-pound Scout Top 100-rated outside linebacker from Aldine (Texas) Davis is scheduled to be taking his official visit to see Notre Dame this weekend. Scout has a more in-depth look into what the Texas talent is hoping to see in South Bend...

Jeffrey McCulloch, the No. 1 rated linebacker in the Midlands region in the Class of 2016, has picked up offers from coast-to-coast, but will be using one of his five official visits to see the Irish take on USC in South bend this weekend.

Heading in he is tryingto see if it i the right fit for his talent.

"Just show me that's where I belong," McCulloch answered when asked about what he was hoping to see from Notre Dame heading in to hi official visit.

"I already know about the world renowned academic program and top of the line football, but where do I fit into their puzzle. Just the whole place... does it fit me and do I fit into it?"

As a junior in 2014, McCulloch is credited with around 60 tackles, 18.5 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 11 quarterback pressures to earn First Team All-District and Honorable mention All-State honors.

Kid sets the edge as well as anybody I've ever seen in his HS tape, and while doesn't have the burst of an elite pass rusher he seems very natural at doing it. Betiku may be my only bigger want out of the class, but Mcculloch may be more realistic. GET 'EM

This kid flies; and this kid hits like a freight train.

I don't know about not being fast. Or not having a burst.

But he owns the field, is unblockable, and brings the boom!

He is everything ND needs to grow its next All American!
