What did everyone think of the SHIELD premier? Any thoughts on where Simmons is? It looked like Svartalfheim (sp?).

My wife watched a bit of it... I was totally drawn in by the main chick with short dark hair... dime. piece. Like, I walk by the TV, glance, see her, immediately sit down, "whoah"

aside from that everything else I saw could have been muted and or green screened out and it would have been a major upgrade.

btw, wtf was that 'thing'? That's where comic stuff loses me, wasn't sure if I was watching Lady in the Water, Sonic the Hedgehog on Steroids or some bad 80's hairband attacking them at the end....

Looks like someone who had a bad experience with a Diviner. At first I thought it was Daisy's Dad.

Chloe Bennet. She is quite the traffic-stopper.

Stopped reading comics in the early 90's.
When they first announced her show along with Iron Fist and Luke Cage I thought she was one of the ladies from Heros for Hire.
After a google search their names are Misty Knight and Colleen Wing.

I have no idea who she is.

My oldest sister plays Anne Crain Walker in Man in the High Castle. It is a great series even though I am a little biased watching it.

4 episodes deep into Jessica Jones. It's really good so far.

This sounds much dirtier than it should...:naughty:

She is a newer hero who debuted in 2001. I haven't seen a comic of hers, but here...

I have a kid and only watch these when he is away/asleep. I got in one episode of JJ, but was too sleepy to get to MitHC. Looking forward to it though as I have read/seen multiple versions of this kind of concept. If you ever find the book The Proteus Operation, read it.

For those who are big Marvel fans, do you find it kind of strange that they are limited to the Avengers? It always seemed to me like the X-men were the go-to "cooler" team, and Spider Man was there main guy.

It must be weird for Marvel to have to make the Avengers characters into their central guys, primarily on the strength of Robert Downey Jr.'s appeal. I've heard their are even going to the point of serviously downplaying all the X-men characters and storiy lines in their comic books.

I bet they are ecstatic to get Spider Man back. And while I'm sure they can do some cool stuff with the FF, those were some of the characters that really thrived when comic books were written for 10 year olds. Now that they are for adults, its a harder series to work with.

For me yes. I would love for the X-Men to be in the Marvel Universe. I like a few of them but i think several of them were terrible and could have been done much better, particularly with how Marvel is doing movies now. I love what they have done with the Cinematic universe so far. Each movie has its own unique style and story telling. For example Capt America Winter Soldier was definitely a political thriller type movie and GotG was a sentimental 1980s infuzed space com-romp, Ant-Man was a basically a light-hearted heist movie... Its great IMO and they not only hit it out of the park with casting RDJr but Crhis Evans, Chris Pratt, Samuel L Jackson, and Don Cheadle as Iron Man (I thought Terrence Howard sucked).

As opposed to the Fox versions of X-men movies which is one long drawn out universal story they had to reboot with Days of Future past and has been plagued by bad acting (outside of Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine), bad costumes, bad plots, and bad direction.

Growing up it was always FF, Spiderman, the Hulk, and the Avengers. Iron Man wasn't the popular stand alone hero he is today. Credit to the Civil War story and Downey, now he is one of Marvels main characters.

I agree with all of this, although I thought the last 2 X-men movies (the "retro" ones) were pretty darn awesome. But I am not arguing that the movies were better. Most of the X-men movies stunk, as did a couple of the Spiderman and the FF movies.

What I'm saying--and granted I haven't read comicbooks since the 1990s--is that the X-men, besides Spiderman, were Marvel's central characters. Wolverine, Magneto, and the whole "mutant" storyline was generally central to everything. Right now they aren't even allowed to say "mutant."

While the Hulk and Captain America were always big and recognizable--like Superman and Wonderwoman--they weren't steering the ship. Iron man certainly wasn't. In DC land, it would be like they got someone to pull-off such a great green latern that he became one of their main guys, but they weren't allowed to use Batman!

Long story short, while I like Marvel movies better overall (with the exception of those 2 X-men movies), I think Marvel is seriously hamstrung without the X-men. This is NOT the universe they created. The Marvel universe is full of mutants.

OK. Maybe this is what I am missing. I always saw the Avengers, Dr. Strange, the fantastic Four, etc., as important, but Spider Man and the X-men as being the big properties. Maybe I'm just wrong.

Yeah I definitely hate that they can't use the X-men. That being said I also understand the rights issues and hate they had to sell those off. Hopefully Marvel/Disney bite the bullet and buy them off Fox and whoever else and bring it all together. THAT being said... all the stuff they are doing with Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Agent's of Shield, Agent Carter etc... keep me busy and for the most part are well done.
