I thought it was (yet again) really solid. Had a good look at the coaches' and players' lives off of the field and then the game was a larger focus and more of a narrative than usual (at least from my perspective).

One thing that I find myself gaining from this show is just how normal and lovable these guys are. I wish they had this sort of show when I was there. I remember following Chris Brown to class one day and thinking how this big (taller than me at least) bad football player probably wanted nothing to do with me. He was intimidating, mostly just because of his issued gear. After seeing this show it makes me wish I had the guts to chat some of these guys up when I had the chance - so many of them seem like such cool dudes and I think I could've made some friends. Oh well, you live and you learn.

Sorry for the tangent rant - the episode was good. Can't wait for next week.

EDIT: Forgot to add that Mike Sanford is a boss and I fully endorse him as the next head coach and subsequently the president of the United States of America.

I couldn't believe the unfettered access Showtime had to the coaches' families!

I thought it was great, but after I thought back after the episode, I shocked myself; I am not sure as a coach that I could open myself up to the world, let alone if I were the spouse of someone under the microscope like all of the coaches are.

I really like Pacqui Kelly! (I met the widower and father of a family that went through treatment in Cinci at the same time as Pacqui, and the honest stories I heard would amaze you. She and the family are honest, caring, nurturing, and loving to the max! Even in conditions that would have most crying for mommy!)

Someone rightfully cheered "Mike Sanford, Jr., for President!"

I would add Jerry Tillery to that list too. What a great guy, fierce competitor, brilliant mind, and genuine human being! I hope Jerry has a chance to change the world, more than the world changes Jerry! (You can tell everyone loves him!

And one of the great things about ND, and about this whole group of guys, the coaches and their families, is the game within the game subplot; or should I say the game after the game subplot. Day, Watkins (baby assistant), and Malik are just awesome people!

Yeah but he's endorsing Hi16ary for Prez, anyone catch that?! lol, he may lose some support of ND faithful.

I will fully admit I was 100% wrong about the show.. I thought it would be a distraction but man... What a great show... Love seeing these kids and their lives and personalities... Makes me wish I was back in college lol

I know it's been repeated about a gavillion times in 50 different threads, but man is it hard not to love Malik without ever having met the kid. Him sitting there on his cart pushing Wimbush with such emotion, intensity and passion for his teammate on the heels of hearing the way Kizer spoke of him in episode 3 is just..inspiring. Not a huge fan of Tebow but Malik reminds me of the leader Tebow was during his time at UF and the way his teammates viewed him and rallied around him.

Good episode. I especially enjoyed the focus on family.

I'd really like to see more kids get showcased though. Don't get me wrong, it's obvious why QBs and top starters are the focus. Day and Tillery are certainly entertaining as well. But I'd love for the other guys to get some love. That's probably my only gripe. I love this show and wish it was longer than 30 minutes.

I am guessing BK has some control over which players get featured. Basically picks the ones he thinks are mature enough to handle the attention.

I can see that.

The main group who came to mind was the OL. Figured they'd get a lot more attention. Have I just missed it?

Have to say, with the amount of air time the guys get when going skins, really a shame the bod squad lost their leader in GB.

HAHA! My wife caught it and immediately said, "I really liked ND at the game last year and campus is beautiful, but I thought those kids were supposed to be smart?"

I did like that when Martin received the game ball on behalf of the OL, Kelly told him they would get 4 more balls to cover the line. Martin corrected him that there were in fact 15 of them to get balls. Thought that was really cool

Serious QU by someone who doesn't follow the presidential race - Does everyone hate Hillary because she's a democrat and we happen to have a lot of Rep's on this board? Or did she do something during this campaign to turn people off?
