If Tommy Rees can lead those ND teams to like 8-9 wins, Kizer can take this team to 8-9 wins...

Zaire will likely never start again if Kizer performs well. It's not like Malik was our starter last year.

He took over for Golson last year and was MVP of the bowl game in his first start. He deserves more credit than that, although I do hope Kizer knocks it out of the park this season. It would be great for his own game, and great for the team of course.

Devastated. I don't have words. Keep your head up Malik. The Irish nation is behind you.

I'm just saying I don't think he earned the right to keep the spot by default.

Dude, you're in shock and know not what you say. "It's likely"? How do even figure those odds with your position within the Irish Football community? Also, if he didn't "earn the right to keep the spot by default" then you are saying that it's likely that Kizer will beat him out next year when it's open competition... just like it is every year.

Come on man. Watch what you say when people are hurting.

Sorry, I won't opine ever again

Yes, I'm saying if Kizer plays well this year he will start again next year.

Come on man. Watch what you say when people are hurting.

Didn't say anything inappropriate. Wish Malik a speedy recovery and a great career but I don't think he will start next year if Kizer plays well. Very simple idea.

I'm with Crusader here. I don't think you're completely incorrect. Kizer could wind up with a lot of experience this year and we could have ourselves a Cardale/JT Barrett situation next year if Kizer does well, but it's too early to tell any of that. Zaire just went down, he's hurting, the team's hurting, the fan base is hurting. It's probably better to wish him well and good luck to Kizer until we know more.

I do wish him well and didn't intend for my post to be a slight on Zaire. I'm just moving on to Kizer as a coping mechanism more than anything. I'm sorry if my post comes off as unsympathetic.

I can't believe our luck. Last Week it was our AA Runningback this week it's our starting quarterback. Just unbelieveable. Hope Malik is able to get back and make a full recovery.

Get well MZ.

Use your head Kelly. 3 start and you have CJ/Adams give them the ball.

What is MZ's eligibility situation? He should have had 3 years to play 3 seasons correct? Can he medical this year for a 6th?

No. That's not what the 6th year hardship is designed for. So he has 2 to play 2. '16 & '17.

Welp that blows, what's the hardship for then?

A few things. A death in the family that forces you to leave school to take care of a parent or sibling. An illness / injury that takes a 2nd year or more of playing time after you were redshirted for a true medical condition, not just the standard freshman redshirt like Malik received.

I actually received the 6th year hardship waiver when I was in school. Knee surgery freshman year, a transfer to a picky school that didn't take but half of my credits and both my parents died my second year forcing me to miss two semesters. It's a long drawn out process between your doctor, athletic dept. and the NCAA. It took me 6 months to get an answer back from the NCAA and mine was a pretty easy case, or so I was told when we started the petition.

It doesn't sound as bad as I thought it was going to be. Surgery tomorrow. Minor ligament damage and a broken fibula. I was afraid some of the smaller bones were going to be busted up in the foot and some major ligament damage do to it rolling inside and spinning. That Vine going around is gnarly.

Heal up Lefty!

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I mentioned yesterday it was good news no ligament issue. Now I do not like the mention of a tear in it by his father.
