I hope you're not so simple minded in a fight Brutus.

You mad bro!?

Lol.

Easy pickens, all because you didn't like my opinion and I needed to get "over myself."

Your threats are an actual crime and I'm cool with it bruh.

Because you just made yourself look dumb. I mean epic dumb.

Go back to lurking. You're much better at that.

Typical leftist these days.

Well I'm a republican and your first post was bullshit and deserved to be called out. And I hate that so many conservatives' immediate default response is, "Oh, you must be a leftist." Embarrassing to the rest of us.

Having said that, it absolutely was a poor choice of words by the newscaster and a stupid ass comment to make. I can't believe people are actually defending her. But whatever, I'm not going to threaten Wooly with ape sex and a Drago-Appolo Creed beating LOL. To each his own...

Unnecessary friendly fire. I didn't object to him calling me out, which he didn't really do. He was asking that I be shut up. Big difference dude.

I'll repeat what I neg repped you for amigo:

You're an idiot. Growing up in poverty and seeing bad stuff doesn't make you tough. Talking tough guy and threatening to rape people on the Internet doesn't make you tough. It makes you simple.

I can see now why you glorified what another idiot did to a police station.

Go to bed. Go kick your dog. I really don't care.

I really hope you don't have an aneurysm or heart attack from being so mad.

For the record, a big piece of me would love to meet you in real life.

We're mutual Notre Dame fans, maybe we could meet up in South Bend or Austin when I go watch the Irish beat pathetic Longhorns ass.

I'll clear my inbox before that game, and if you're still mad when I come over there close to your part of the world, I'll give you a chance to come by and say, "hi."

I would honestly look forward to it.

So until then, I'm sorry you seen your buddy's throat cut. That sucks, but it doesn't make you tough. You're not desnesitized. You're not gangster. Not Al Capone.

You, too, are a senseless Internet tough guy. Adios.

"My homey got his throat cut playing a game of ball. Don't mess with me. You brought my family into this."

Can't imagine the nuclear bomb he'd have bought from Russia if I'd used an old "your momma" joke.

Pathetic turd.

Never said it made me tough. It made me smart. I figured out what situations to avoid. Things that I needed to do to make myself successful. Question? Why would you automatically think that because I saw those things. I "think" that I was tough?

I can see now why you glorified what another idiot did to a police station.

READ.. COMPREHEND. . APPLY..
I never glorified what happened. What I did was. Defend how the reporter used the words "courageous " bad "brave" in context.

Go to bed. Go kick your dog. I really don't care.

Me too, but I have 2 rules.

1. No more. Chopped, fragmented. Sentences.

2. For the love of God, please quote correctly. Tough to keep up with who is threatening to rape who.

CNN's Fredricka Whitfield says she 'misspoke' when she called Dallas PD gunman 'courageous and brave'

CNN host Fredricka Whitfield has addressed the controversy surrounding on-air comments she made during coverage of the shooting at Dallas Police headquarters, saying she "misspoke."

“Yesterday, during a segment on the Dallas Police Department attack, I used the words 'courageous' and 'brave' when discussing the gunman. I misspoke," Whitfield told viewers on Sunday. "I in no way believe the gunman was courageous nor brave."

Officials said the gunman, identified as James Boulware, planted pipe bombs outside police headquarters and opened fire on police from an armored van — leading to a standoff that ended when he was shot and killed by a police sniper.

During the standoff, Whitfield and CNN legal analyst Philip Holloway were discussing the possibility Boulware had not acted alone.

She was absolutely correct and politically incorrect. We have a bunch of PC softies here. People are literally fighting to be wrong because of beliefs and sensitivity, sounds eerily familiar from other recent issues.....lol

I was gonna let this thread die but I have yet to hear any substantive arguments on why she used the words wrong not based on emotion and opinion.

Dude, those are weighted words, whether you want to believe that or not. Call it emotion, call it opinion, call it whatever (I call it common sense, but that's just me). She was incredibly stupid to use them. It has absolutely nothing to do with being 'soft'; it has to do with her being unbelievably tone deaf and using the wrong choice of words. If you want to be like her and use stupid word choices because they are technically correct, be my guest. But I don't a singe of sadness or empathy for someone that chooses to do that and faces the consequences.

I'm hoping this doesn't throw you off the edge towards crazy ape-sex threats. lol

You are right about the words have weight and meaning, but they only hold that weight to people that have only heard the words being used in one tense. No different than kids snickering when they read that someone is "gay" (ie happy) while not understanding the true definition of the word.

The reporter should have known her audience better and chose different adjectives. That being said, she obviously didn't have the intent of crediting the offender. This is evidenced by the second part of her comment where she adds, "if not crazy as well". Plus, I would like to see the rest of the clip. I'm sure she continued to hold the event in poor regard. She used two adjectives in the correct tense and people are simply misrepresenting her intent. She will probably get in trouble and possibly fired over other people incorrectly interpreting her comment in a vacuum. I hope everybody here on IE aren't held up to that scrutiny in their own life, where people incorrectly thinking your comments mean something they do not and losing your job over it. Especially if you aren't exactly saying something wrong in the first place.

The bolded. Exactly correct.

This happens to be an area in which a more conservative crowd is the "PC Police."

I was totally unaware of this thread until it was brought up to me by a good friend a few minutes ago.

So this thread is about an (airhead) newscaster's (aren't they all?) choice of words? And everyone agrees that though strictly the words are used correctly, the instance she used them showed such an appalling lack of sensitivity, and judgment that she should be branded a douche-rocket forever?

Okay. Then I slip into the thread and find NDinLA the peacemaker, and see that he has posted one of the funniest lines in the thread, stealing dshans' thunder?

And then you got plenty of guys poking the bear? Relying upon the magical speed of electrons?

(Johnny is the bear, trust me ND in SW told me so, and he is a bear, too!)

Full disclosure : Really they are two young pups, who are brothers from another mother.

But if there is one thing I am tired of, get your facts straight. Know what you are talking about before you pull Adolph Hitler into it, or call anyone a fascist!

Hitler Facts

34 Facts About Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler

By Jennifer Rosenberg

(20th Century History Expert)

Hitler's Family
•Despite becoming the dictator of Germany, Hitler was not born there. Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria on April 20, 1889.
•Hitler's parents were Alois (1837-1903) and Klara (1860-1907) Hitler.
•Hitler had only one sibling that survived childhood, Paula (1896-1960).
•However, Hitler also had four other siblings that died in childhood: Gustav (1885-1887), Ida (1886-1888), Otto (1887), and Edmund (1894-1900).

•In addition to his sister Paula, Hitler had one half brother, Alois (1882-1956) and one half sister, Angela (1883-1949), both from his father's previous marriage.
•Hitler was known as "Adi" in his youth.
•Hitler's father, Alois, was in his third marriage and 51 years old when Hitler was born. He was known as a strict man who retired from the civil service when Hitler was only six. Alois died when Hitler was 13.

Artist and Anti-Semite
•Throughout his youth, Hitler dreamed of becoming an artist. He applied twice to the Vienna Academy of Art (once in 1907 and again in 1908) but was denied entrance both times.
•At the end of 1908, Hitler's mother died of breast cancer.
•After his mother's death, Hitler spent four years living on the streets of Vienna, selling postcards of his artwork to make a little money.
•No one is quite sure where or how Hitler picked up his virulent antisemitism. Some say it was because of the questionable identity of his grandfather (was Hitler's grandfather Jewish?). Others say Hitler was furious at a Jewish doctor that let his mother die. However, it is just as likely that Hitler picked up a hatred for Jews while living on the streets of Vienna, a city known at the time for its antisemitism.

Hitler as a Soldier in World War I
•Although Hitler attempted to avoid Austrian military service by moving to Munich, Germany in May 1913, Hitler volunteered to serve in the German army once World War I began.
Hitler endured and survived four years of World War I. During this time, he was awarded two Iron Crosses for bravery.
Hitler sustained two major injuries during the war. The first occurred in October 1916 when he was wounded by a grenade splinter. The other was on October 13, 1918, when a gas attack caused Hitler to go temporarily blind.
•It was while Hitler was recovering from the gas attack that the armistice (i.e. the end of the fighting) was announced. Hitler was furious that Germany had surrendered and felt strongly that Germany had been "stabbed in the back" by its leaders.

Hitler Enters Politics
•Furious at Germany's surrender, Hitler returned to Munich after the end of World War I, determined to enter politics.
•In 1919, Hitler became the 55th member of a small antisemitic party called the German Worker's Party.
•Hitler soon became the party's leader, created a 25-point platform for the party, and established a bold red background with a white circle and swastika in the middle as the party's symbol. In 1920, the party's name was changed to National Socialist German Worker's Party (i.e. the Nazi Party).
•Over the next several years, Hitler often gave public speeches that gained him attention, followers, and financial support.
•In November 1923, Hitler spearheaded an attempt to take over the German government through a putsch (a coup), called the Beer Hall Putsch.
•When the coup failed, Hitler was caught and sentenced to five years in prison.
•It was while in Landsberg prison that Hitler wrote his book, Mein Kampf (My Struggle).
•After only nine months, Hitler was released from prison.
•After getting out of prison, Hitler was determined to build up the Nazi Party in order to take over the German government using legal means.

Hitler Becomes Chancellor
•In 1932, Hitler was granted German citizenship.
•In the July 1932 elections, the Nazi Party obtained 37.3 percent of the vote for the Reichstag (Germany's parliament), making it the controlling political party in Germany.
•On January 30, 1933, Hitler was appointed chancellor. Hitler then used this high-ranking position to gain absolute power over Germany. This finally happened when Germany's president, Paul von Hindenburg, died in office on August 2, 1934.
•Hitler took the title of Führer and Reichskanzler (Leader and Reich Chancellor).

Hitler as Führer
•As dictator of Germany, Hitler wanted to increase and strengthen the German army as well as expand Germany's territory. Although these things broke the terms of the Versailles Treaty, the treaty that officially ended World War I, other countries allowed him to do so. Since the terms of the Versailles Treaty had been harsh, other countries found it easier to be lenient than risk another bloody European war.
•In March 1938, Hitler was able to annex Austria into Germany (called the Anschluss) without firing a single shot.
•When Nazi Germany attacked Poland on September 1, 1939, the other European nations could no longer stand idly by. World War II began.
•On July 20, 1944, Hitler barely survived an assassination attempt, called the July Plot. One of his top military officers had placed a suitcase bomb under the table during a conference meeting at Hitler's Wolf's Lair. Because the table leg blocked much of the blast, Hitler survived with only injuries to his arm and some hearing loss. Not everyone in the room was so lucky.
•On April 29, 1945, Hitler married his long-time mistress, Eva Braun.
•The following day, April 30, 1945, Hitler and Eva committed suicide together

DISCLAIMER: I am one of the more impartial POVs I know as I don't have a horse in the political race and typically shy away from these threads for that reason, BUT if I may play devil's advocate for a second...

Is magonian's comment about this vs. 9-11 really that far off base? I think he makes a valid point. If the words "courageous" and "brave" were used to describe the hijackers on that day, I'm fairly certain the outrage would be unilateral. Are these words accurate by pure definition? Sure. But I think we all know that they typically are used in a positive light when describing one's actions. Magonian may be a political troll - I really don't know - and maybe this is troll bait, but all the same, I think this particular point is a valid one.

Bingo!
