Is that kind of like Hanging with Mr. Cooper?

Of note, Mack and a Robertson will be going to ND Friday and then OSU and UM the rest of the weekend. So this isn't an ND specific visit.

At least their time will be with BK. Let's see what kind of a salesman he is.

I think we have a shot. Close to home, ties to Fort Wayne from past players. Jaylon. Lets face it there have been talks of them both playing together and does Mack even have interest in MSU?

Have a ton of respect for Michigan State, but we gotta win this one. Cant let the best players in Indiana leave.

That's the pitch that turned both of them off from Notre Dame. They want to be themselves, not feel like they went there because guys from AWP/FortWayne went there. Notre Dame changed the pitch and got back into consideration, so I hope they do not push that.

What exactly is the pitch now? Honestly Austen and Mack both could play a a lot their freshman seasons.. Mack could replace Fuller if he goes or Brown, Austen could start right away.

Can't see Mack playing much with Bent, Holmes and the incoming freshman class.

I think Mack has more upside then all of them. I think Mack has been a silent to OSU for a while and I think we have a ten percent chance with Roberston. It would shock me if they chose ND and I would give mad props to Elston and BK

If Mack is a silent to OSU, then why is he still acting like him and Auston are a package deal? OSU is most likely full at DE. At the very least, they do not seem to be ahead of MSU for Auston's services. But yet, Mack is going on visits to all of them.

The pitch is like the pitch most kids...what Notre Dame can do for them vs them continuing a pipeline. The pipeline pitch works for some kids, but in this case, both kids want to make their own decision and do not want to attend a school for the sole reason guys from their town went there before them. As fans, it makes sense, but as players, it makes a lot of sense to get information about each program and make a decision for you.

Both kids can handle Notre Dame and enjoy their time there. But Michigan State has a great track record for defensive players under Dantonio and Ohio State has a need at WR and just produced Devin Smith, who is comparable to Mack, but Mack is way more advanced coming out of high school.

I agree, if Mack came to Notre Dame, it wouldn't shock me to see him get playing time. Starting, is another animal.

AustOn Robertson is a good player now, but still extremely raw. For him to start as a freshman he would need to have monster gains in his game. Remember, he has only played DE not even a year to this point. Last fall was about simply figuring out if plays were going to be run or pass, yet he was still able to make plays. This year, I expect him to have a big season, because he has learned the basics of playing DE.

Sometimes kids have a hard time saying no and still go on these visits for respect. Remember Eichenberg was a silent to ND for months but still visited OSU. Not a lot but some kids tell coaches they are coming but still go on visits. Iman Marshall and Bryon Cowart also come to mind

Just Mack and Robertson on the trip. Due to the trip being moved to Friday from saturday mother Robertson couldn't make it. As of now, I don't see this as anything more that pleasing the people around them by going.

Maybe, but I'd rather them be there and possibly raise their interest level than not be there at all. Maybe BK can pull a rabbit out of his hat.

Yes, as do I. I was just saying that I'm not overly optimistic that no parents are involved on this trip and the reason it was moved to Friday (for Robertson) because they want to get to UM and OSU on Saturday and Sunday. This is one of those times where I would LOVE to be wrong and I really really hope I'm reading this wrong.

Neither is going to be picking ND right now. This recruiting cycle reminds me a lot of '13... not a lot going on pre 12-0, and then we closed strong with elite prospects down the stretch.

Tin-foil time:

It seemed like that around the '11 and '12 seasons, BK was recruiting without pressure, as if he KNEW things would fall into place, because he KNEW his team was going to be one of the best in the country.

Perhaps he's feeling that way again?
