Bishop Gorman held him to under 100 yards last night but this kid can move.

I know size is a concern but it was a concern for Danny Woodhead too. The good thing about McGrew is he's playing against the best competition there is so you don't have to wonder how he would do playing a better schedule.

Plus, how cool would it be to have a player named Sean McGrew playing for the Irish. Seems like destiny. As an Irishman, I endorse this recruitment.

You are definitely right that his schedule will get him noticed. Woodhead was friom small town Nebraska, and even though he was running through pretty much everyone in high school there were always the same knocks against him. He was too small for DI ball, and he played horrible competition. At least this kid will be able to cross the second gripe off of his list.

Height. Hopefully he tears it up again in the playoffs and leads Bosco to back to back championships. He can fly though. I am pretty sure UCLA was his first offer so he might join Rosen and the bruins.

I hope height isn't the reason. How can it be ok to have a 5-10 QB that can't see over his line but not a 5-8 RB who still might grow over his senior year?


I look forward to the playoffs too. I want to see another Rosen / Costello match-up and hopefully JSerra get a chance to avenge that loss to Bosco. I've really enjoyed JSerra this year. RB's Vander and Faoliu have been tearing it up. Faoliu had 220+ yards against Bosco and is just a sophomore, a 6-1, 225lb sophomore! Vander is averaging 130 ypg. Nick Robinson has a 70% completion rate. They don't have all the stars that Bosco does but they execute like no one else.

It sucks that a 4-6 Cabrillo made the playoffs ahead of CJ Sanders' 6-4 Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Notre Dame plays in the Mission Conference with traditional powers Crespi, Bishop Amat, Alemany, Chaminade and Serra. Probably a top 10 conference in the country, Cabrillo has Long Beach Poly and that's it. Unfortunately, they award playoff spots on your conference record, not your overall or head to head play.

McGrew, Rosen and Bosco sure is fun to watch.

Good for him... If he isn't able to contribute by his junior year, he can grow a beard and grab the shillelagh. Short of being named Padraig Murphy, it just doesn't get much better than having a Sean McGrew on the Irish.

Oh... and he straight hauls the mail against one of the nation's best schedules while scrapping for carries from the nation's best QB.

He is much quicker than Cam from what I've seen but you can't knock Cam's numbers in high school. He did it against 6A Dallas competition. There was no reason to think he couldn't be successful at ND besides the shallow assumption based on race.

Actually followed coach Alford back in December.. so there was some contact. Nothing new though it says above that Loy thought an offer was coming.

I won't say he's high on my list but he sure is fun to watch play at the HS level and play at the level he does against the talent he does on SJB's schedule.

They will have a national ESPN against St Peter's (NJ) this fall.

Why have I not watched his highlights before? WANT! Seriously, his hips are loose and he has really good acceleration, I'd take this guy in a heartbeat. He'd be a great compliment to Tony Jones Jr and he could work that hybrid slot/RB role.
