I just saw that all of Akira Kurosawa'a classic movies (e.g. "Yojimbo" "The 7 Samurai") are on HuluPlus. And I thought I was going to get some productive stuff done this week. Looks like I'll be binge-watching Criterion Collection movies and drinking Irish whiskey.

Rented "Horrible Bosses 2" last week.

I loved the first film, one of my favorite comedies. Charlie Day is fantastic, and the trio of Day, Sudeikis and Bateman works well in striking with my own personal humor.

The second film didn't start off well. After the first thirty minutes, I was feeling kind of disappointed and was bummed that I was going to be let down... and then the rest of the movie went into overdrive, and I laughed nearly the entire rest of the way.

I'm completely immature and easily amused, but I won't apologize for loving this movie just as much, if not a little bit more, than the first.

The real question......Is she as hot in this one? Some women look stupid when they go with darker hair, but she looks hot with it.

I think Jennifer Aniston looked even hotter with the dark hair. Not that she needed much improvement in the first place, but still.

I like the dark hair. It's a nice change up, matches her character better as well.

I'm not much on blondes, but I've always liked Aniston... Very smash- worthy.

"Cocaine Cowboys." It's a documentary about the flood of cocaine into the Miami area in late 70s and early 80s and the crime wave that resulted. Wild stuff. The craziness that was depicted in "Scarface" and "Miami Vice" wasn't exaggerated. The place was a war zone back then.

Watched "The Jersey Boys" this past weekend. Absolutely loved it. Eastwood did a great job again. It's probably not for most of you younger pups, but anyone who had a wide range of musical taste and likes the music of the 60's and 70's should enjoy it. BTW..........It's not a musical.

I watched "Jackie Brown" the other night. It's been a while, but I'm more impressed with that movie every time I watch it. Tarantino showed such a mature and deft touch with the film. I've enjoyed all of his movies, but there is an understated richness of texture to "Jackie Brown" that is such a pleasure to watch and that Tarantino has not duplicated since.

Just watched St. Vincent. Bill Murray is hilarious. Naomi Watts is incredibly sexy throughout, and my man tears were tested. Was much better than I imagined.

He was hilarious, but incredibly good in the somber scenes as well. I think he is one of the under rated actors around.

Really great movie. One of the few movies Melissa McCarthy wasn't obnoxious in either.

Holy crap - amazing. I cried through like half the movie - stupid woman hormones. Though, I *do* love a movie that can make me feel feelings.

I just brought a quote that I just came across, from another thread :

I spent some time chatting with Alan Ginsburg when he was at ND:

“I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by
madness, starving hysterical naked,
dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn
looking for an angry fix,
angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly
connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night,
who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed and high sat
up smoking in the supernatural darkness of
cold-water flats floating across the tops of cities
contemplating jazz,
who bared their brains to Heaven under the El and
saw Mohammedan angels staggering on tenement roofs illuminated,
who passed through universities with radiant cool eyes
hallucinating Arkansas and Blake-light tragedy
among the scholars of war ... ”

He spoke.
He squeezed his harmonium, pumped his organ.
We smoked weed
In a staid prof's dining room
While faculty huddled,
Wine in hand,
Kitchen lit in gas and warmth.
Official dope package lost in time.
Inscribed. Smeared. Sincerely signed.

Where do we go?
Who judges the road travelled?
Well? Rough? Rutted? Smooth?

Downtown train on
tracks of US Steel?

Kill your Darlings was not an easy film to watch but it held me like a horrible traffic accident. It was impossible to look away from. Granted, I always had an interest in the beat generation, was a fan of Kerouac, Ginsberg, et al., but this movie was much more than an homage to an off kilter social aberration.

The movie was wonderfully acted. Everyone was superb, including the supporting cast. Kyra Sedgwick as Carr's mother, and John Cullum as the professor that utters the title phrase were stellar. Daniel Ratcliffe and Dane DeHaan made the movie as Ginsberg and Carr.

Tough subjects from schizophrenia, to sociopathy and murder, to graphic homosexual love in a time that just didn't tolerate that choice, to lies and manipulation in an attempt to discover a deeper truth - this movie is disturbing but a thought bomb! Especially for those who read or were influenced by those portrayed in the film!

"Wolf Cop" on Netflix. Definitely amusing, better than I thought it would be.

I saw that listed and was planning on checking it out, but hadn't gotten there yet. Also, want to check out the Marvel Daredevil Netflix series that dropped today. Been rewatching the Marvel superhero movies as we countdown to Avengers: Age of Ultron release may 1.

Took my girls to go see Cinderella... Honestly, I really liked it, would totally recommend it for those with young girls or those into fantasy...
