Full ride according to his own quote.

Long Snapper U.

Not sure if I agree with this. Granted, great to have the kid, definitely an excellent snapper, but we're pretty tight on numbers this year and there are some very pressing needs this class has to establish.

"He snaps the ball probably in the top five of kids I've ever seen in terms of speed," Rubio said. "You want the ball at about .75 (seconds) at 15 yards and his can easily be in the low .6s maybe even high .5s. He rips the ball back to the punter."

Average 15 yard snap time at Vegas XXV: .66
Average 40 yard dash time at Vegas XXV: 5.10
RSI Vegas XXV: 24.18

Considering the amount of screw ups we had on special teams this year i'll take it. Plus Scott Daly has one more year left(assuming he doesn't get a 5th year). So this is going to be a need in the future and if you can get the #1 player at his position, why not do it?

It's times like this where I have to remind myself that my opinion doesn't matter to the staff.

A lot of the issues on ST (kicking in general) had more to do with the holder than the snapper. Daly was been quite good over his time.

Weren't a number of those screwups related to a scholarship LS who was a #1 at his position?

Yep, because the staff went out and recruited a quality long snapper.

The day I started to care about the LS position was the day this happened:

LS matters.

Maybe the best thing that can be said about Scott Daly is that I have not heard his name since signing day, but I know he has been playing. Seems that is the one position on the field, that, if no one (outside of this board) knows who you are, you have done your job effectively. Therefore, if we decide to offer another scholarship to a kid that is the best at his position and will help us secure games, I am all for it! Congrats!!

The way I see it, one of the advantages of all the new-found depth we've been trumpeting is that it allows us to make accommodations for specialists. You probably can't have a "weapon" at long-snapper, but when he's shaving a tenth of a second or more off getting the ball to the holder, and you have the #1 kicker in the country (Yoon), you hopefully aren't going to see many blocked kicks.
