Revis was due $20M next year if Pats kept him. I think they did the right thing by releasing and trying to resign. However, the Jets were willing to pay a ton more, which Pats probably should have saw/did see coming. So yes, they essential let him go.

As for Browner, can't speak on. You would think they would have kept one of their starting corners. As much as I dislike the Pats, they most likely have a solid plan in place.

Pats strategy is never "we need to win a SB every year". I think they are just happy to be there or there about's but its rare they will gamble with their future just to get a ring. They also have no room for sentimentality which helps alot too.

Looks like the Eagles are going to sign Ryan Mathews. Although Schefter said this won't dissuade them in their pursuit for Murray.

Colts need defense, period.

If they can make playoffs with ty, a hurting Reggie, boom, and trich. Why spend on those positions in FA.

Don't get me wrong, while old, they are upgrades. Just not at positions that truly needed addressed IMO.

Am I in the twilight zone? Andre Johnson has been one of the best WR's in the league for a decade. He almost had a 1,000 yards with a merry band of homeless guys throwing him the football last year. He also was nursing an injury most of the season.

Johnson will be a 1,500 yard WR next year, barring injury.

Idk about 1500 yards, but I think he's gonna bounce back. I think they should still bring another wide receiver in for competition. I really like their rookie this past year from Ole Miss. I can't recall the name, but I did love him coming out and approaching the draft. Colts still need guards and defense. The draft should help them bring in young talent.

While that is a very good point and I too think Johnson is still a quality WR. He has lost a step and is no longer the downfield threat that he used to be. Also, I think that last part does pose a valid concern.

I think that 1,500 is a stretch just like I think saying he'll be a bust is a stretch. I think around 1,000 yds and 5-7 tds is a good place to start. That would make this a very good pick up.

He had 1,400 yards two seasons ago with Schuab/Yates/Keenum throwing him the ball. It's crazy how a 33 year old guy can be completely written off because of one meh season when he was playing injured on a bad team.

Another thing I find funny is the the other posts saying that they would rather have Wayne. Johnson had 157 more yards than Wayne last year in the same amount of games played. The only difference is that Wayne had Luck throwing him the ball.

dude has very little left in the tank one would think? i'd take reggie wayne over him still.

I think it's a great pickup. Big upgrade at the #2 for them. He came from a system where he was always the only WR threat. Shit TE's and second WR's. Every D knew there was only one receiving threat.

I'm interested to see how healthy he will be with a different training staff. Him, Foster, and Schaub were always hurt. I think he'll have auch better year health wise

First, he didn't come to Indy to be the #2. He left the Texans because he didn't feel like he was going to be utilized enough moving forward, so he didn't pick the Colts to be a second tier player. Which leads me to my second point, he wasn't their only receiving threat the last two seasons. DeAndre Hopkins had 1,200 yards last season and 800 in his rookie season.

Keeping in mind that I still think he's a good WR. In order to get to 1500 he'd have to be around 15yds/rec. (11 last year) or have 100+ rec. since I don't see either happening I think he ends up around 1000. Just from watching him play it's easy to see he's not the deep threat he used to be but that's ok. He won't need to be. Hopkins filled that role last year 16/rec. and Hilton will now.

I agree that he is very good and will have a come back season but i think having Gore around they might want to try and run the ball more.

The last part is kind of contradictory to your other point though. Which is his Merry band of crappy QB's still allowed Hopkins to deliver more yards and a better average. Which would move us toward the notion that he's not the deep great he used to be and Therfore he'll have trouble stacking up those yards.

I respectfully disagree. He was playing hurt most of last year and still took double on coverage every game. You don't think the change from Ryan Mallett to Andrew Freaking Luck isn't worth 4 more yards per reception? He has had over 14 ypc and/or 100 receptions 10 out of his 12 seasons in his career. All without a competent QB.

I suppose we will see though. It's just always funny how short everyone's memories are. This guy has been one of the best WR's in the league for a decade. He didn't just drop off the map to the level of a #2 WR in one season. But that's just my opinion, I suppose.

No it's not. DeAndre Hopkins is a badass WR. He stacked up yards because he is a quality #1 WR getting single coverage every game because he's playing next to one of the best WR's in the game. Pretty simple, really.

You do realize that only 4 guys had 1500+ yds last year. So the reality is very few WR's and plenty of really good ones dont achieve that number. Just simply becuase he's done it before and now has luck is a pretty silly reason to expect it to happen again. Lastly, if you look at the guys that are currently putting up 1500 they are athletically superior at this stage than Johnson.

You think Jordy Nelson is athletically superior to Andre Johnson?

I think Johnson will be one of the top five WR's in the league next year playing with one of the top QB's in the league in Luck. So I don't get why thinking that now that Luck has a WR like Johnson, that he can't put a WR (one that has done it several times in his career) in that group. I don't think that is "silly" at all.

Seriously wooly? You chose still pictures as your way of determining athleticism. Jordy Nelson is one of the best deep threats in the entire game, period. It's not because he's slow or not athletic. If Hopkins can avg. 16yds/rec. then so could Johnson with the same QB's if he could still take the top off the defense. Let's just settle it this way, I'll bet you every Vbuck I have at the end of next season that Andre Johnson doesn't have 1500 or more yards, deal?

I'll just add that it takes a fairly unique player to get to 1500 yards as you have to be able to get open deep but also be the main target so you accumulate enough receptions. That's where the 100 x15 comes in. A.johnson has seen his yds/catch decline for the last 3 seasons when it last hit 14.9 in 2011.

I didn't say that he wasn't one of the best deep threats or didn't deserve his credibility. I'm just pointing out that he is not athletically superior to Andre Johnson, which was your argument.

I already explained that Hopkins did it in single coverage, provided by Johnson. You sure take a lot of weight on one season of their careers. I'll take my chances with Johnson's entire body of work.... and i'll take your vbucks. ;)
