Assuming you were being serious, any background on his performance, or reason for transfer.
Covered in the transfer thread. It was let out early that we are looking to add a transfer. So after hours of educated guesses, some came to the conclusion of him. It would have to be an '11 or '12 EE recruit that's graduating. Most assume someone with prior interest. His name came up.
EDIT: There are other names being thrown around too. No confirmation on who we are expecting yet.

He's also the only guy on the list that has recently been followed by a bevy of Irish insiders and staff on twitter.

I just don't think we need him. We have a ton of defensive linemen, several of whom are young that I want to see get as many reps as possible. I roll with what the coaches think, but I'm not down with this one personally...
He wants to see what it is like to win a game?
I never know what I'm talking about on these sorts of matters, unlike you guys who are recruiting experts, but I thought that he was likely to go to Stanford to play with his younger brother.
Ehhhhh, I mean, yes there's guys like Jhonny, Hill, and Blankenship (Trumbetti is going to be a monster this year), but I don't know what kind of impact they'll have THIS year. Hill is more of a rush LB similar to Eric Striker, Jhonny is still pretty raw. I don't know, we can never have too many edge rushers.

And what has Scarlett proven other than 3 years of being injured? 4 seasons in college, 3 of them marred by injuries to the point he played only a handful of games, and one season of 40 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a sophomore. If that's your definition of guaranteed impact, well, I strongly disagree. And if 2.5 sacks (and 3 injury plagued seasons) is your definition of a reliable edge rusher, then I disagree even stronger.
Fact is, he's not reliable because of injuries, and well, not great sack numbers when he was healthy, which we desperately need from our edge rushers. I'd rather see those reps and minutes go to a younger player with more years to give to the program. Plus, there are 5th year seniors that we currently have that I'd rather see stick with the program over Scarlett...
I agree that we don't "need" him in the sense that we have a lot of seemingly talented young guys on the line, but outside of Trumbetti, I haven't seen any of them show glimpses of elite potential. I'm sure that some certainly could, most young guys don't look elite immedietely, so don't get my sentiment wrong. What I'm trying to say is that when you look at teams like Bama, they do it with depth and competition. Scarlett could add that, imo. Hell... If we have an open spot for the year (?) what does it hurt?
I would prefer our young guys evolve into starters because they had to compete and show elite play to get a significant role rather than get a lot of playing time simply because we need them.
True. I'm not saying we NEED him per say. But I am saying that you can never have too many pass rushers. I'm pretty sure all of us would rather have Ishaq over Scarlett, but right now, that just doesn't look likely. If he can get his sh*t together academically, by all means (though Ishaq has proven even less than Scarlett, so there's that).
somebody is bound to get hurt in spring ball or transfer due to depth chart. i would take him and worry about the numbers later
