Jesus, could have been much worse, but still...what a horror story! Thank god you got home safe, and thank god for your sake ND won! Question is, was the win "priceless!?"

Haha thanks man. It was a great win, but not as good as the 5 OT Louisville win when I was at ND. It was a mess, but like you said could have been worse and thank God in the big scheme of things it was little more than an inconvenience.

Lunardi no longer has Notre Dame in the Midwest region. He has ND as a #3 seed in the West region, playing Central Michigan, and would play the winner of Georgetown/LSU if they beat CMU. Villanova is the #1 seed and Zona is the #2 seed in in the west region in Lunardi's bracket

Favored by 11 today over Clemson. Got to send Grant/Connaughton out with a win.

Strong game all around. Wish Connaughton could have had a bigger game in his last time at the JACC though.

I think we match up well with them. My main concern is that they absolutely need to beat us to get into the Tourney, and that we might be rusty by Thursday while they could be in a groove playing the night before.

Good day for our seed also. #8 Wichita State lost, #13 Utah lost, and #18 Arkansas lost. Kansas also lost to Oklahoma, not entirely sure if that is good or bad for us.

I would be shocked if the Big 12 Champ didn't end up as a #2 seed, but I'm wondering if there is any chance we could get a #2 if we win the ACC Tourney.

... But hey at least the Irish won, we were able to help someone in need, have a story to tell, and most important got home safe.

God, I do so love a happy ending!

Good to hear that you made the trip safely, exercised a healthy dose of charity, had the chance to briefly visit with a truck drivin' Good Buddy ...

... and were there to cheer and see the Irish to an important win!

Don't write off wake forest too they could beat Miami or at least give them a run for their money.

I think Miami would be a tough matchup but we would match well with them.

Miami is the better matchup as their strength is in their guard play and we have the better backcourt. The downside to playing Miami is what an earlier poster said and they need to win that game to get in the tourney.

Wake does scare me a tad bit because of Devin Thomas. That guy has absolutely destroyed the Irish and while I think we can definitely out shoot them, I would rather not see him again in the near future.

I believe Miami will win against Wake out of pure need and that the Irish can handle Miami again. Duke is playing about as well as anyone in the country so I really don't have too big of an expectation playing them in their backyard, but hey leave it all on the line.

Corey alexander on espnu said we are 1 of 5 teams that could take down Kentucky. I like the sounds of that.

While Grant is the straw that stirs the drink, we have a pretty balanced team on the offensive side. Our defense is pretty good as well. Our biggest issue is rebounding. We'll need to at least have a stalemate on the boards to make a solid tourney run.

I believe this too. The problem is that while I think ND could beat anybody on any given night, I also think that they could lose to just about anybody on any given night.

You just summed up the entire tournament.

The key for ND to advance in the tournament is to simply stick to your game, no matter who you're playing. Stick to what made you successful this season and try to not let the moment get the best of you. Sometimes people, especially young ones, have a tendency to let the moment get to their head and at times, it can overtake you. You begin to think to much and become reactive instead of proactive.

What helps this ND team is the experience of Mike Brey for starters but the leadership on the team between Pat and Jerian. What also helps a team like ND is how they play as 1 unit. A fist is stronger then 5 individual fingers. (Horrible analogy. ha)

I think its a good analogy. Makes sense. We have great leadership on this team. Grant and patty have been here in the big lights and they are gonna have to carry us and the younger group to a successful tourney run. i think we can def make a run in the tourney this year depending on matchups and as we all know the past 5 years we have seem to get the worst matchups so we shall see in a week wont we!

Vasturia also did it on the defensive end. Nobody in an Irish uniform could guard redshirt sophomore forward Jaron Blossomgame for the first half of the first half. Averaging just under 13 points coming in, Blossomgame erupted for 13 in the first.
That’s when Vasturia was given the assignment of slowing him down. Vasturia played good position defense and never allowed Blossomgame to get comfortable. Following that early burst of points, Blossomgame managed nine the rest of the way.
“We had to kind of frustrate him,” Vasturia said. “He was getting a lot of easy paths to the basket. We had to keep him off the lane, push him off the block and be physical with him.
“We did a good job.”

Sharing it helps No. 12 Notre Dame, seniors cruises past Clemson - Notre Dame Insider: Mens

Jaron Blossomgame kept Clemson in the game for a while, scoring the first seven points and 13 of the Tigers' first 17. But Blossomgame added just nine more points the rest of the way after Vasturia started defending him, finishing with 22 points.
"He was crushing us," Brey said. "In hindsight, we should have started Steve on him. We debated that. But Steve to the rescue again."
Vasturia said he tried to be physical with Blossomgame.
"I just tried to frustrate him a little bit," he said. "The team did a good job of help defense and rotating."
Blossomgame said the Irish were more focused on him defensively.
"They were boxing me out, looking for me on every shot that goes up and kind of denying some of my reversal passes and stuff like that," he said.

Clemson Tigers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish - Recap - March 07, 2015 - ESPN

I know earlier in the season there were some calling for Beachem>Vasturia and for way less mins for Vasturia. Kid is silently very, very solid for us. Most teams in the country would kill to have their #5 scoring option add 9.4 points per game (and shoot 40% from 3 and 85% on FTs) and be a stopper on the defensive end.
