This would set a terrible precedent. I know we say that ND doesn't pay the staff enough, but this would just be ridiculous. BK losing his two best recruiters would also be terrible. They can't let Alford leave.

I will be very disappointed if he leaves for a lateral position. Now if he was being offered an OC job that would be different, then I would wish him the best.

What did you expect? We didn't have any drama with the recruits signing their LOIs. This season all the drama is on our coaches.

Cooks

McCarthy
Lafluer
Alford

When you have a situation where key guys are walking as soon as signing day hits, makes you wonder about the working relationship amongst the current staff.

If I'm a recruit and I'm influenced by coaching changes I don't sign on signing day. I wait until a few days after. These coaching changes the day after signing day could change signing day from here on out.

Wasn't everyone begging to have Quinn just a couple weeks back, now we are all depressed??

Sorry, if anyone doesn't understand that these guys are likely moving on because they aren't moving up at ND (or going to), I think you're blind. Neither Cooks or Alford were going to be promoted while here.

That's not even a bad thing though. If Kelly isn't promoting them, it's for good reason. Each of these guys have their faults. I have consistently said I don't see Alford as a coordinator. He comes off as a fantastic recruiter because he's "real", but he is not a meticulous perfection demanding type. Cooks, while I really liked him and think he may have the mind for it, is not a very vocal guy and he does not come off as a strong leader.

It makes sense that these guys go somewhere else to become more than assistant coordinators because it just won't happen here and for the right reasons. I loved and respected both those guys tremendously and thought they were good coaches, just not really promotion material.

If Lafleur is leaving there remains one opening.

I can't argue with the Quinn hiring. I just hope he and Denbrock can coexist.

EDIT: I guess since Quinn is coming in as QB coach he is Lafleur's replacement. Still need a replacement for Alford.

I'm wondering if Denbrock is now moved to recruiting coordinator and Quinn becomes OC.
