Is Virginia still a big time defensive team?
One of the best. I think they are second in FG% defense
Was reading that they are good on D but they don't force TO's and a team that takes care of the ball and can make jump shot can be successful against their D. We do both.
That's the best defense I've seen this team play. Jackson is a stud. Grant seems too weak for big boy ball.
27 points against Michigan State, which is a program that definitely plays big boy basketball. His last game of the year last year against an undefeated Ohio State team, he went for 18 (out of only 60 team pts). Don't mistake a mini-slump for not being able to hang with the best teams in the nation.
And if Brey didn't play him 40 minutes a game, he might have more left in the tank...

I don't think Koonja has watched this team play a lot. Earlier in this thread he though our weakness was our guard play and not our rebounding.
No. I said they really miss a 3rd guard to come off of the bench because Jackson and Grant have to essentially play every minute.

Cmon son. 4 assists? Only 0-1 shooting? 3 of those assists on all 3 of VJ's threes?
He's playing perfect. UVA helping on all of his drives and he's playing it perfectly.
So he needs to force stuff? This is the most physical team they've played, and he can't get past the free throw line because he's getting pushed out. It's not like he's missing shots, he simply can't get any off. He needs to add strength.

Koon put down your beer and enjoy the game.
Is it that day of the month where we jump down my throat and pick apart every post? lol.
No, I never said he should force shots. I'm saying his lack of strength is apparent against a defender that has an NBA type body, and Virginia has those types of defenders. That's why he's struggling IMO.
You specifically said he's too weak to play big boy basketball. I've seen almost every single game this season, and almost every game last season when he was eligible. He's played big against some very physical teams, a couple of which I mentioned. If you don't think Tom Izzo's teams are tough or 'big boy', then you just shouldn't comment on it because you clearly don't know what you are talking about.
Or, you can post away, but don't get offended when people who follow this team closely correct you on things.
