There is an age limit, by rule. I did not see what the exceptions are, though.

Am I too old to play college sports?

"There is an age limit for NCAA Division I and II sports. The NCAA allows a one year grace period after high school graduation for DI and II schools. One year after your high school class graduates is when your eligibility will start to be affected in all sports except for hockey, skiing and tennis"

So it has changed. DII used to have lots of older guys. My friend played 2 seasons of DII basketball at 29 / 30 yrs old with no exceptions back in the 90's.

According to that link you now have 6 years to play 4 with the one added "prep school" year after your graduating class... unless you add another sport - Russell Wilson / Kris Weinke situation, religious reasons - Mormon missions, military service or other circumstances. I got a 6th year from the NCAA for a combination of injury and family deaths.

99% sure there is no age limit. Remember chris weinke?

I don't remember many specifics surrounding the circumstances, but Weinke was 25 as a college freshman at FSU and 28 when we was awarded the Heisman Trophy.

He was courted by many colleges but opted for the paycheck of a minor league baseball Toronto) player. When that didn't pan out he reconnected with Bobby Bowden.

What exceptions or "special circumstances" were claimed? I don't know.

Brandon Weeden was almost 30 his senior year at OSU. Everything is going to be ok people..

He was pro baseball player for 5 years. Completely different situation to what Zaire's would be IF he was really 24.

Does it matter in the end if it says 1995 on his Facebook? Or is the next theory that he's lying about his age on Facebook?

When I first heard of this on the 29th or 30th, Google was the only thing that said he was born in 1990. Wiki did not, nor did his Facebook page. I brought this to his Dad's attention on Wednesday night. He called him and now... his Facebook page is updated to say he's 24. Wiki has been updated to say his correct age however.

Hes 19. I know people who went to Alter with him,

Of course he is.... and off topic: You have the most eclectic assortment of favorite teams in the history of fandom. I've seen career military brats with a more cohesive list than that.

This is a confusing post. His Facebook says he is 24?

Haha. I was born in Chicago and have always liked the Bulls even in the Marcus Fizer era. Moved to Columbus when i was young and like
the Jackets and Yankees because of it. The Clippers were the Yankees minor league team for awhile. I like the Vikings because I don't really have a favorite NFL team so I follow ND players and they have a lot.

You can TRY to make sense of it but that's still a hot mess homie!

Is he trolling?

In a sense I guess... he set his birthday to public since the start of the week.

Hes lying to get past some stuff in the older Facebook. I used to have myself be born in 1988.

Exactly, I just checked an he joined in '09 so he was 14.

Thanks in part to the information brought forward to me in this thread.

So YOU are the guy who does the updating??? Do I send you the $3 donation through PayPal or do I have to get a money order from Walmart?

Malik is Blade. End of discussion.

Is this a picture of Joe Schmidt, Malik and CBK after the Syracuse game? I don't remember it being that windy... CBK's hair is a mess.

Malik just tweeted

"Kids born in 94' & 95' are just a different breed when it comes to athletics. #Superstars"

I wonder if he saw this discussion lol

It's finally happening: I was in high school when ND's starting QB was born. SMH, where have the years gone?

Just looked it up, Jarious Jackson was the last starter that was born before I was in high school so that makes Matt Lovecchio my guy. Ouch.

I'm glad I asked the question about his age. It was a drunken text from a buddy that I questioned. Nothing deep. Glad we got an answer....

Not as crazy as you might think. The list would indicate he probably started developing his team loyalties in the mid to late 90s. I'll take a stab at his fandom origin stories:

(1) Yankees: From 1996-2000 Yankees were one of the greatest baseball dynasties of all time, and with Derrick Jeter, Andy Pettite, and Mariano Rivera as the faces of the franchise, it was very easy to be a Yankee fan.

(2) Bulls: Michael Jordan era was a good time to be a bulls fan and a basketball fan generally. The guy's been retired for a dozen years and is still one of the most recognizable names for the Bulls, the NBA, and sports generally.

(3) Notre Dame: ND still had the luster from the Holtz era, and many young kids (myself included) grew up watching Rudy. I'm sure that's a very relateable story for many people on this board.

(4) Vikings: If you paid attention to football in 1998 you probably still remember being in awe of Randy Moss and Chris Carter on the same field.

(5) Columbus Blue Jackets: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(6) Manchester United: the Yankees of soccer.
