#7 Mississippi State EMBARASSED by Georgia Tech down 3 TDs in 4th and needed a Hail Mary for it to even be that close...

Call me crazy, but I'm actually starting to sense that Ohio State could beat Bama tonight. Bama struggles to defend spread offenses, and Ohio State has the personnel on defense to slow down their ordinary offense. People thought Bama had a good offense but it just turns out that SEC defenses are total garbage.

Didn't the SEC kind of limit oversigning a few years ago? That had a lot to do with their dominance IMHO. I love how some reporter had the gall to ask Gordon if he could put up similar numbers in the SEC. Yeah apparently the guy would have put up better numbers.

Even more embarrassing when you consider the bowl system is basically set up to give ridiculous advantages to the SEC. Ohio State fans literally drive through Tuscaloosa to get to the bowl, which is in the heart of the SEC. If Alabama loses, they should be REALLY embarrassed at how badly the system is stacked in their favor and they still managed to blow it.

Now that the playing field is semi-level and they're not treating players like slaves it's funny how their "dominance" is eroding year by year.

The fall of the B1G can be directly traced to them putting in strict anti-ovesigning rules before everyone else. And if you go back far enough, all of this is a product of little schools progressively lobbying the scholarship cap down from 105 to 85 over the years... but SEC schools kept playing as if the numbers never changed.

Start with an arbitrary high preseason rank. Check.
Remain highly ranked after beating an arbitrarily high-ranked division rival. Check.
Don't fall in rankings because you lost to an arbitrarily highly-ranked division rival. Check.
Dominate lowly FCS teams. Check.

dshans, you're completely right especially as it applies to Mizzou. I grew up 30 minutes south of campus and once they joined the SEC, you'd have thought everybody in Mid MO won the lottery. Immediately they all loved everything about the SEC and thought it was their golden ticket. Alas, they were brought in to be a punching bag. Turns out they (and the rest of the East) are the punching bags for a mediocre conference that is too afraid of getting exposed on the big regular season stage.
