Just a reminiscent thought: Jojo Black wasn't given static for his familial support for Malik, but he did get flack for some slightly-over-the-line personal criticism of Everett. I didn't have a problem with his natural enthusiasm for "the Malik kid" as he phrased it, only the negatives thrown at the "competition." We are supposed to be family afterall. That said, I've been waiting for a Quarterback with proper QB football instincts and size [and who can run] for five years now, and I'm sure that Coach is saying "Thank you, Our Lady" that one seems finally to have arrived.

Great game by Malik. I am NOT suprised it has come to this though. He was in the ELITE 11 so I knew he was a better athlete and leader than EG, just less experienced.

That being said, I thought EG played with much more control yesterday. Trying to make plays without being careless with the ball (minus the one he successfully threw up for grabs while taking a huge hit). I am glad the competition has BOTH playing turnover free football. 2012 proved it doesn't have to be pretty. Make some plays when you need to, hold on to the ball, and run the gameplan.

I didn't realize how BIG Malik is...monster out there. I knew he had a cannon, but damn he could be our starting MLB too. And he might be the best running back on any football field he's step on.

O-line played great as well. I'm happy BK finally stuck with the run game.

Can anyone confirm? My wife googled Zaire during the game and asked me how this kid is a 24 year old sophomore? It's the first I'd heard of it but that's the only birth date she could find for Malik so I'm pretty curious. Either the birth date is wrong or Zaire didn't enter grade school until he was 10 years old.

Like Buster said above, he just can't be 24. He wouldn't have been allowed to play HS football if he were 4 years older than everyone else. I'm assuming he is 19 or 20, like you would expect a sophomore to be.

Baseball exception. Without religious missions, military service or other sports to change your clock your eligibility starts at 21... or at least it used to.
