This. I always got that indication while watching Soso that he was little bit glide-y. Ronjo has a lot more dynamic cuts, and that translates a lot better at the next level. There are plenty of athletes in college that can get you in glider mode, but those cuts can make their respective athleticism betray them. I also like that Ronjo hits the hole like a 18 wheeler, and turn on the jets. I just never saw that next gear from Soso. He just seems to drift around at a set speed, which is fine because he's fast, but having the ability to turn on the jets makes it that much harder for defenders to pick their spot.

He's doing very well for himself with the Celtics. Doubt he's wanting to go back to school or change sports.

While I agree that R jones is in the same Tier as Soso, let's not get into the Soso bashing theme. He's a very very good back, we're just looking at another one of those same RB's at this time.

I don't think it's bashing, more like nit-picking. With backs this good, you kinda have to in order to compare and contrast them. There was some bad things to his game, but seems a lot more good things came up.

Lol I just couldn't stop thinking Rondo every time I read it. I don't see anything wrong with it tho. Ronald Jones--> Ron Jones--> RonJo...makes sense. I'll just stick with Ronald Jones tho.

That's fair, I just don't want to get into the bashing of a player be she he's not coming to ND.

I'll politely disagree.

Soso makes it look easy, small steps that are low to the ground. Jones has longer higher strides and runs way too off balanced. Soso has great start and stop and he can also line up in the slot after audibles and burn coverage. Look at their feet, Soso has great short choppy low to the ground steps. Jones feet are a bit high and often is off balanced and ends runs sideways.

Just what I see. What I do like about Jones is that he is a great change of pace to Folston and Bryant. A one cut and go guy that our offense needs. But I think Soso is rare talent. He makes it look too easy and his feet are ideal.

No. That's why this thread wasn't bumped. But now people will think there is news because the thread was bumped. That's how IE works.

This is so accurate.

I was expecting news.

So it just occurred to me. With the recent hiring of Franklin, who was one of the best RB's in UCLA history, do you think that would help ND is trying to lure Soso (considering UCLA is their biggest competition for him)?

Nope, I would think it has nothing to do with it and wouldn't sway him at all.

As much as I hate to admit it, the hiring of Franklin seems to suggest that Alford may be leaving. Franklin could very easily be moved to a coaching position should Alford decide to leave.

Not sure how you connect the two. Granted, you have to figure Alford's on borrowed time at this point, but I just don't see the connection to Franklin.

In think he's assuming since Franklin is a former RB then he'd be next in-line for the RB coach position, which isn't what Franklin will be doing anytime soon. I agree with you that the two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. He's not coaching football at this point.

I wonder how Soso will digest Rosen leaving? Kind of brings the 40 year decision back into perspective....

I'm with you in hoping the Rosen-Harbaugh thing has implications that effect us positively, but I'm not sure how likely that is.

Hearing Moras name mentioned as an NFL candidate again as well. Could be an interesting month

According to Loy, ND and UCLA are tied at the top.

They'll have a better update later on.

I've said it since last year that Mora is a sneaky pick to make a fast move to the NFL. There are some intruiging openings coming up.

New insider info...he is looking to take 2 or 3 more officials..texas, a&m and Baylor...nd and ucla are at the top..stated he really liked how ND was a real close knit family and that was really a big selling point along with the lack of rb on roster...will make a decision following officials

49ers will look at college coaches and Mora is near the top of that list. Our coach might be as well. Going to get realllllly interesting starting tomorrow.

Has to be big for us. Could be the deciding factor.

Even if Mora doesn't leave, if there are enough rumors with some credibility and they float long enough, it should be enough to make his decision easier for him.
