I don't want to lose another recruit to UCLA!! If our coaching staff wants Soso, then they need to work on getting him.

This season, and especially this game, is showing RB's everywhere that we do not know how to use RB's. Folston had a good day, but Bryant barely saw the field at all. I wonder how Kelly is gonna handle the McDaniel fumble. I mean, Bryant is in his doghouse since the fumble against 'Cuse, and he's way better than Cam.

I've said this before and I'll repeat it again. I'm surprised any running back would want to come to Notre Dame. We don't use our running backs. Since it's obvious our running backs are being used as linemen and not as running backs, why don't we just put an extra lineman in for pass protection and play without running backs all together. McDaniel is in for pass-blocking, why not use McGlinchey or Hanratty instead.

If I were Soso or Brosette, I'd be done with Notre Dame. Kelly's pass-happy offense has no room for a running back.

My advice (although it hasn't been asked for) is to "Run the **** ball."

I thought we've shown its not as pass happy as it appears. Folston ran for his 3rd 100 yard game yesterday. I think your statement is a bit over dramatic.

If I was Soso I would rather go to UCLA, who has a better record and the appearance of running the ball more.

Why would a RB want to come play in this offense?

You bring up an interesting point, many south Florida skill position athletes come out of high school ready to play Division 1 football. For instance, undefeated national champion Florida State had four true freshmen contribute on offense Saturday night against Miami -running back Dalvin Cook 7 carries for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 receptions for 18 yards - Travis Rudolph 4 receptions for 65 yards, and Ermon Lane 2 receptions for 27 yards. Because of an injury to the center, Florida State's LT was moved to center, and a freshman, R. Johnson, took his place. Can you imagine, a freshman playing left tackle? Miami has Duke Johnson, and yet, true freshman Joseph Yearby carried the ball 10 times for 34 yards. Freshmen Chad Thomas, Anthony Moten, Courtel Jenkins, and Trent Harris all saw time on Miami's defensive line. Miami's offensive line also has a freshman at tackle, Trevor Darling. But, I can't leave out the contributions of a quarterback coming out of California - true freshman Brad Kaaya 16-34 for 316 yards 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

I may be off base here, but I think what Eddy and Yankee might be referring to, is the inconsistency that Kelly shows when using the running game. It's hard to get a grasp on what BK is trying to do with the running game. It appears to me that he occasionally runs the ball simply because it's a necessary evil. I can never tell what BK is trying to do with the run game. I never see him trying to exploit a weakness. Make sense?

You mean inconsistency, like calling for two jet sweeps inside the 10 when in reality you should be feeding your RB who has been on point all day, right?

And this has to do with a RB that ND is recruiting out of Texas how exactly?

Per TV, the good news is that Ryan Bartow spoke with another coach that recently visited Soso and its still a ND/UCLA battle. However, the bad news is after speaking with another source close to his father the glitz and glamour, warm weather, and LA lifestyle is really appealing to Soso and we seem to be fading here. Confidence in the Gug remains but its not looking as good as it did in September/October.

Rest easy ND fans, NDSean has reassured us that Soso will be Irish.

I still want Soso or Jones but a RB is a lower priority until Kelly starts using them on a consistent basis (or develops one into a consistent contributor).

i feel the same way about BK and slot WR's. I wasn't sad when Davonte decommitted or Isiah McKenzie chose GA.

You don't think that Carlisle and Procise have been effective this year. Wow, I feel the complete opposite of this. We've gotten very good production from those two combined.

Combined they have 41 rec. 685yds. and 5 Td's. They've also ran 11 carries for 88 yds. Again, I'm very happy with that production after 10 games.

Yea, slot production seems way up this year.

Also, next year, ND will only have 2 scholarship RBs (not including Adams since he hasn't signed yet). RB is a high priority.

Yes. But, I would still love to see both of them got more opportunities with the ball in their hands.

Ditto for me, I'd love to see a slot WR take over a game rather than be just a contributor.

I'm sorry but its pretty apparent that your making statements without having any facts. The facts are that we have 2 guys playing one position so neither one is going to have crazy stats each week. If you look at the production of the position its been very good. Against ASU the slot position (Carlisle and Procise) had 5 catches for 177 yds. 1td. That is very very good production. That would be considered taking over a game.

Sorry didn't mean to edit the post.

You've summed up my position very well. Why would Soso or any running back looking for an opportunity to play in the NFL come to a school where you average less than 10 carries per game over the course of the season? For example, 5 carries one game, 15 carries the next game, and 3 carries the next game just doesn't look that appealing to a player who's been offered by another school that consistently produces running backs in the 1200 to 1500 yard per season range. High-quality running backs are looking for 20 to 25 carries per game. They won't get that in Kelly's offense.

I miss the days when we had a 100+ yard rusher EVERY game during the Holtz era and the pass revolved around the run. We passed when we had to. I really like the way Wisconsin & Nebraska use their RB's as team leaders and revolve their offenses around them. Seems like OL's feed off a RB that can consistently get the job done and when a run game takes a game over, good things happen. Kelly's best Novembers were when he had a tough RB leading the way. Hughes, Gray, Riddick, etc. I really hope the O-Line can gel better in the final 2 games so Folston can keep getting 100 yd games.
