This season, and especially this game, is showing RB's everywhere that we do not know how to use RB's. Folston had a good day, but Bryant barely saw the field at all. I wonder how Kelly is gonna handle the McDaniel fumble. I mean, Bryant is in his doghouse since the fumble against 'Cuse, and he's way better than Cam.
I've said this before and I'll repeat it again. I'm surprised any running back would want to come to Notre Dame. We don't use our running backs. Since it's obvious our running backs are being used as linemen and not as running backs, why don't we just put an extra lineman in for pass protection and play without running backs all together. McDaniel is in for pass-blocking, why not use McGlinchey or Hanratty instead.
If I were Soso or Brosette, I'd be done with Notre Dame. Kelly's pass-happy offense has no room for a running back.
My advice (although it hasn't been asked for) is to "Run the **** ball."
Why would a RB want to come play in this offense?
I dunno, Tarean Folston's having a pretty good year.

You bring up an interesting point, many south Florida skill position athletes come out of high school ready to play Division 1 football. For instance, undefeated national champion Florida State had four true freshmen contribute on offense Saturday night against Miami -running back Dalvin Cook 7 carries for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 receptions for 18 yards - Travis Rudolph 4 receptions for 65 yards, and Ermon Lane 2 receptions for 27 yards. Because of an injury to the center, Florida State's LT was moved to center, and a freshman, R. Johnson, took his place. Can you imagine, a freshman playing left tackle? Miami has Duke Johnson, and yet, true freshman Joseph Yearby carried the ball 10 times for 34 yards. Freshmen Chad Thomas, Anthony Moten, Courtel Jenkins, and Trent Harris all saw time on Miami's defensive line. Miami's offensive line also has a freshman at tackle, Trevor Darling. But, I can't leave out the contributions of a quarterback coming out of California - true freshman Brad Kaaya 16-34 for 316 yards 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
I still want Soso or Jones but a RB is a lower priority until Kelly starts using them on a consistent basis (or develops one into a consistent contributor).
i feel the same way about BK and slot WR's. I wasn't sad when Davonte decommitted or Isiah McKenzie chose GA.

Yes. But, I would still love to see both of them got more opportunities with the ball in their hands. You don't think that Carlisle and Procise have been effective this year. Wow, I feel the complete opposite of this. We've gotten very good production from those two combined.
Combined they have 41 rec. 685yds. and 5 Td's. They've also ran 11 carries for 88 yds. Again, I'm very happy with that production after 10 games.

Ditto for me, I'd love to see a slot WR take over a game rather than be just a contributor.

He did?
I may be off base here, but I think what Eddy and Yankee might be referring to, is the inconsistency that Kelly shows when using the running game. It's hard to get a grasp on what BK is trying to do with the running game. It appears to me that he occasionally runs the ball simply because it's a necessary evil. I can never tell what BK is trying to do with the run game. I never see him trying to exploit a weakness. Make sense?
You've summed up my position very well. Why would Soso or any running back looking for an opportunity to play in the NFL come to a school where you average less than 10 carries per game over the course of the season? For example, 5 carries one game, 15 carries the next game, and 3 carries the next game just doesn't look that appealing to a player who's been offered by another school that consistently produces running backs in the 1200 to 1500 yard per season range. High-quality running backs are looking for 20 to 25 carries per game. They won't get that in Kelly's offense.
