watched "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Saving Mr. Banks".
wow. both very well acted. Matthew McConaughey was a force. and yes, I'm a sucker for the physical transformations certain actors go through for roles. and both he and jared leto took this method piece to a new level. i never really felt for this character. he fought a good fight, but to me, he was still an asshole. good flick though. and i recommend.
"saving mr. banks" obviously you're getting the brilliance of tom hanks. and emma thompson is no slouch. i find her to be a bit stage-y or "over after-ish" at times. but she's so good at just being a vile angry person. in discussing the pathos of the characters in "Mary Poppins" while having to deal with the dollar printing press that is Disney studios and the "google" like playfulness of that work environment, made for very likable scenes. couple that with the music of "mary poppins" and a wonderful score by Thomas Newman its a very moving piece. Paul Giamatti is fantastic. he's the heart of the film. and really enjoyed jason schwartzman and bj novack. but for me the money was on bradley whitford, whose got to be the best producer in hollywood to breakthrough to this crotchety old woman.
