Anyone see Maryland refuse to shake hands?

If ND ever pulled a stunt like that I'd be beyond pissed.

I absolutely hate PSU, mainly growin up in their country. But I thought it was really bad sportsmanship, and as a result actually felt myself routing for PSU for a while. That all changed though on their pitfull last drive where I thought it was hilarious that they botched the snapp n a 4-and-game qb sneak.

Can someone explain the PSU hate for me? Yeah, I know about the Sandusky thing, and while it is deplorable, the current team and coaching staff had absolutely nothing to do with it. Are there reasons beyond Sandusky why there's a lot of hate for them in this thread?

I understand if someone hates the school and always will because of it (I don't feel the same way, but I get if someone else does)... just wondering if there are reasons beyond that.

For the record, I'm with Lax. I would be very pissed if ND showed a complete lack of sportsmanship like that as well.

I've hated them my entire life.

None of the coaches or players or even students currently at PSU had anything to do with Sandusky.

Do we even know their refusal to shake hands had anything to do with the Sandusky situation? One would assume, but there wasn't anything I saw leading up to this that showed they had an issue with PSU.

People would be pissing and moaning if this happened to ND. Typical little brother mentality of Maryland.

I'm actually fairly certain is has nothing to do with that. I'm pretty sure that it is has more to do with restarting the rivalry.*

*The term rivalry is used loosely here as the all-time series record is now 35-2-1 in favor of PSU.

I don't think the handshake refusal had anything to do with Sandusky. Apparently there was a pregame altercation between the two teams and Maryland decided to refuse to shake hands. Pretty lame, IMO.

Does it come down to "the sins of the father are visited upon the sons?"

I saw nothing of the fracas (was there one?) or the refusal to shake hands. I'd just as soon not.

Sportsmanship on the field should transcend the bullshit of the past, especially when it was all out of the hands (screw any who see this as a pun) of the current players and coaches.

Play the damn game on the field with respect.

Shake hands and let the score reflect the skills of the players.

There was some kind of scuffle/altercation before kickoff. I figured it was related to that but I'm guessing.

Thought it was classless myself.

If this is the reason, it's stupider than I thought. Worst part is they walk away with a last second victory, as opposed to a loss.

Right. People laugh about it when it happens elsewhere, but could you imagine the shit storm if ND didn't shake hands with Navy, or Purdue, or SC, or anybody? The media and other fan bases would lose their shit.

I hope Maryland get embarrassed in every game they play, for the next decade or so. Watching the video, and seeing them just stand there as the Penn State players try to shake their hands.... totally classless. The team, the coach, and the entire Athletic Department Administration should be ashamed of themselves.

Classless move by Maryland players. Hell even MMA fighters and boxers tap gloves before proceeding to try and beat the crap out of each other.

Let's say Maryland was added to our schedule every year for the foreseeable future. If they refused to shake ND's hands the very first game and then beat us at home by 1 point, we would want to absolutely murder them the next season.

They did this to try and create a rivalry, and I'm guessing that it worked.

Short of an ebola outbreak in the Penn State locker room, I don't care WHY they did it. It was a totally classless, @sshat move. And I hope karma catches up with a vengeance.
