I'm wondering if Archie Manning stepping down effects the SEC teams?
Yeah but real humans have real biases. Until I see this process play out I'm not sure I trust this committee to not just pick 2 SEC teams because "S-E-C."Because real humans are better than real computers.
What's all this talk about #8? Sheesh.
If we're 8, we're too high, if we're 5, we're probably too low. I expect us to be #6, maybe #7. But we should be #6.
I think it's more likely we're #5 than #8.
1) MSU
2) FSU
3) Bama
4) Oregon
5) Auburn
6) ND

BTN-Poll Mentality? But I don’t think it’s a great idea for the Committee to release polls weeks in advance. And neither does Jerry Palm of CBSSports.com.
“No. It is the dumbest thing they are doing,” said Palm. “Why? Because you run the risk of being locked into a poll mentality.”
Poll mentality, you say? What’s that? Palm gives an example.
“Top-five teams Notre Dame and Florida State played last week in Tallahassee,” said Palm. “Great game down to the wire. The higher-rated team, No. 2 FSU, wins. Poll mentality says that Notre Dame has to drop in the rankings. And, in fact, it did in the coaches (5th to 8th) and writers polls (5th to 7th). Not far, but they dropped for no other reason than they lost.”
According to Palm, that doesn’t jibe. “In fact, what that game did was validate Notre Dame’s ranking. I thought they were probably overrated going into that game. I wasn’t sure they were a top-five team until that game. That game validated their ranking. Is this committee smart enough to see that? Or will they drop them just because they lost?
“That’s what worries me about doing rankings in advance. If the Committee is smart enough to not get caught up in poll mentality, will they get criticized for it because people expect poll mentality.”
Interesting.
I think there's less than a 1% chance this happens but how crazy are we all gonna go if we come in at #4. IE will explode.

7:30 on ESPN
Sitting in a waiting room this AM and heard the reporter for ESPN discussing the committee. The one thing she said that just jumped out at me is that the committee members will be specifically looking at the defensive side of the ball and whether a team's defense can be successful against multiple styles of offense. I thought that was really interesting and bodes well for ND. This is where our scheduling teams from different conferences will be a huge plus for us in the eyes of the committee.
