O)kay guys! I can't decide which is sadder all the bitches that said Bilal warn't sheet when he was being closed moufed about his recruitment, all giggly and happy like today; or those that think this guy isn't explosive!

This kid has (from what little I have heard) a legitimate 4.6 forty, but he has acceleration more like Jaylon. You cannot look at cell phone highlights! You need to look at actual game tape. And the whole thing, not sped up reframed top plays.

It is not whether anyone here is able to evaluate highlights, skill wise; it is whether they are going to commit the time! Anyone ever hear that film study is dedication not inspiration?

Some need to get a life. I am just aggravated that so many brought such garbage to a really great commits thread, and then marginalized him!

I will take Asmar every time!

Don't recall anybody saying he isn't explosive or marginalizing him. A few of us were not overwhelmed with his film. I was one of them, and offered my input on where I thought his greatest areas in need of improvement were. Others may express that they are frustrated that their opinions, although well thought out and explained, are seemingly not welcomed sometimes if they do not jive with the opinions of others just because a player has now become a ND commit. Some of what I say here is more about board posts in general than this thread particularly. It is OK to have differing opinions and be accepting and civilized in our different points of view is it not? Asmar is definitely explosive, fast, agile, etc. However, he lacks physicality, gets caught up in traffic more than you would like, does not always get down hill fast enough and doesn't defeat blocks consistently enough, in my opinion from what I see on film. All areas that he may or may not improve on as gets stronger and better coaching over the next 4 years. Right now though, those areas are liabilities in his game against high school competition. He is a good prospect, however he could just as easily end up being more Steve Filer than Jaylon Smith. Time will tell.

I agree with everything you say!

Please watch this film and tell me you don't see explosiveness. (From like the third play on.)

Now go back and look at Greer Martini's film. NO. I am not comparing Asmar to Greer. If you have watched Greer this year he has played like a college linebacker. In fact, if you watched, he ran Switzer down like an old slow dog on a punt return. And Greer looked like a high school linebacker in his film, (because he was), and many questioned his speed, even with his offensive highlights showed him regularly outrunning competition. Go figure!

I can respect anyone's opinion, even one that strongly disagrees with me save two aspects. When a poster berates one of these kids personally, you of course have not, and when a person states his opinion as if it were fact, or should be taken as fact. (And I have fallen into that trap, also!)

Pardon me for posting about Asmar. Scout: He committed partially because of Coney's upcoming commitment. Opportunity was too good to pass up and he had enough information to decide. Anna says Coney is still a take as others have said.

Color me confused why Coney's announcement would affect Bilal's announcement if Coney is a take no matter what? Unless Bilal would not be a take if Coney committed first... Does that seem possible??

In any event- welcome aboard, Asmar!!!

I'm confused about the one more LB thing now. I don't want it to seem like we pressured somebody into coming and then do it again with the next guy we want. Too high a chance of flipping. Maybe one more OLB and one more at MLB and multiple options on the board at each? I don't know, but either way welcome to ND Asmar!

Remember when Brian Kelly was first hired, many on this board thought he could not or would not recruit well at ND. How funny that is 6 years later.

I'm confused as all get-out!

Is Bogs frustrated? Is Bogs aggravated? Does Bogs need to get a life? Is he sad?

Relax! Watch film. Yell at some bitches. Marginalize something. Commit to not being so angry.

The only thing I can think of is the staff told him there are only so many slots left and if he didn't commit before Coney they would use Bilal's spot for someone else?

Nice...

Did he commit in order to secure a spot prior to Coney announcing!?

Me thinks so.

I have been wondering about this. Was he told that ND would shut it down when Coney committed? Sounds so. Only problems, do you think that the ND coaching staff have a clear idea of what Coney is going to do? And do you think Bilal knows that?

Interesting idea to toss over!

I thought Anna said the staff would still take Coney. Bilal may have been mistaken, but I'm ain't mad.

Maybe they don't and maybe the staff told him no commit after Coney in order for Bilal to finally commit?

Maybe, just maybe Bilal finally made up his mind? Too simple?

For a couple pages on this thread today, pure greatness was achieved.

It's nice to have Bilal in the fold too.

Aha Téigh Gaeilge! makes no sense. It basically translates directly as "Gaelic (language) goes". I would say "na hÉireannach Abú" which means "the Irishmen Forever" It's the common phrase used in conjuction with sports teams.

Both Josh Barajas and Asmar Bilal have been invited to the U S Army All American Bowl. Notre Dame commits Nicco Fertitta, Jerry Tillery, and Tristen Hoge will also participate in the game, along with Notre Dame targets Porter Gustin and Alize Jones. Offered linebackers Darrin Kirkland and Jerome Baker(Fla verbal) will also be there. ESPN/Under Armour Bowl will have only two Notre Dame commits in attendance - kicker Justin Yoon and quarterback Brandon Wimbush. Florida verbal Adonis Thomas, and linebacker targets Jeffry Holland and Roquan Smith are Under Armour invites. A left out Tevon Coney has been campaigning for a late invitation to one of these All Star events. Do you see where I am taking this? If both Florida and Notre Dame want only three linebackers in the 2015 class, which school will Coney choose? Have Jeffry Holland or Roquan Smith already taken the Florida linebacker spot with a silent verbal? Coney's announced decision will be on ESPN.

Éireannaigh Abu is the translation for "Go Irish" according to the Irish language teacher in school her.

All of my grandparents were from Ireland. My only recollection of my two grandmothers was them them speaking Gaelic to us and it sounded like they were coughing up a loogie.

Welcome Asmar...get ready for the ride of your life and looking forward to your numerous contributions on and off the field! Fantastic choice!
