Suspending JW is probably the right thing to do. But, from a purely selfish ND perspective, suspending JW is a lose-lose proposition. If we win, haters will say the win didn't mean anything. And if we lose, then the loss looks that much worse.

Who cares what the haters say about an Irish victory. 12-0 gets you in the final four. Get there anyway possible. ND plays for national championships. Going 12-0 guarantees a chance, 11-1 puts it in the hands of the talking heads.

I don't hold him responsible for the crab led incident. Think about it. The first time he had to 'allegedly' rape someone to get some. This time he was trying to get a nice dinner set up first to avoid that route.

Our guys could have practiced while suspended. It was Kelly's decision to hold them out. I don't know that he ever explained it but I think he preferred to proceed by assuming they weren't coming back (which looks smart in hindsight). Richt may prefer to assume Gurley will come back.

Thanks. I was wondering why our guys couldn't but Gurley can. I assumed it was at the university's discretion but I wasn't sure.

So lawyers. How many of you advise your clients to lie? Because someone out there is telling these kids to get paid under the table and deny, deny, deny. Pretty damn frustrating for our guys to be assumed guilty until proven innocent while football factories require extraordinary proof of fault in order to lift a finger. Even then it is only to the point they are worried about the NCAA cracking down, which is an even bigger joke.

You aren't supposed to ever do that.

It just keeps getting better and better. Wasn't Winston involved in a BB gun incident as well? Yet no consequences. Meanwhile at NC State:

They had this discussion on ESPN radio a bit ago. They said in fact there have been several players on more than one occasion who have participated in BB gun fights at FSU. On the main street that runs thru the campus. Causing hundreds to thousands in damage and not one suspension.

Are we sure these are BB guns, not airsoft guns? I've never heard of people shooting each other with BB guns for fun. Airsoft is plastic and you're SUPPOSED to shoot each other with them. People did it at ND and it wasn't a big deal.

Yea. It's unbelievable, really. I mean at what point do you start questioning institutional control, or lack thereof?

Is this really the worst thing? Teenagers and 20-somethings play with toy guns. I think it's ridiculous to suspend players for it. It's about as "severe" as paintball or smoking hookah in a frat house.

I have. We did it as kids all the time. But I grew up a country kid without cable tv and video games to occupy my time.

You may be right, but that's not the impression that has been given from the stories going around lately. Airsoft guns do not cause thousands of dollars in damage, unless the damage is coming from the individuals and not the guns. Either way, their actions are out of hand. Playing with Airsoft guns on a city street is a good way to get shot with a real gun, particularly when you're a black man running around with a gun.

The report in regards to FSU is that they caused a significant amount of property damage, yet no one was held responsible. When you combine that with everything else that's going on, yes it matters.

I never said they shouldn't pay for the damage.

The reason I linked the NC State tweet is because of it's correlation to BB guns and FSU's BB gun incident. The situations may differ to some degree. But the overall point is that NC State suspended players for playing with BB guns. FSU turned a blind eye when their players did it (while causing thousands of dollars in damages).

We did it in the woods, never around houses. Not much difference between airsoft and bbs, a scronk enuff gun gonna do damage. There was an understanding that you only aimed low and no extra pumps of the gun. If you knew you were doing it you wore jeans and a sweatshirt b/c that shit stings on bear skin or even, GASP, can break the skin! Unless kids wore glasses normally, there wasn't any other eye protection.

Some of you guys sound like my wife with your gun phobia. She seems to think you can kill someone with a spitball.

You really don't understand the output of pellet guns, do you? You can put a hole through a metal sign with a pellet gun... and cause great bodily harm too if used incorrectly.

I agree. But when the head coach comes out and aggressively defends the kid I assume he's going to play. We'll see if the higher ups make a move.

The higher-ups suspended him for the Clemson game as late as the night before so I would not be so sure they let him play...especially since Fisher was just as defensive of Jameis then as he is now.

And now you have TWO investigations going on with him at the center. I honestly think ND can win and if they win against Jameis, all the better.

I cracked up this morning when I heard the report that they (Fishers, etc) asked Jameis if he signed autographs for money. Jameis said no. End of story. HAHA. The kid lied about yelling obscenities at women, you think he's going to tell the truth about this?!

Yup, a kid who is a proven liar and LIED TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY'S FACE NO MORE THAN A COUPLE WEEKS AGO... but let's all just accept everything he says at face value. Ridiculous.

They will wait a few weeks for the "investigation" to progress (and for the backup to heal/creampuff opponent) and then suspend him for a half because that's what Manziel got.

IDK how the FSU team can be focused this week, let alone Jaemis. I mean, two very serious allegations going on? I don't feel for him at all and I hope their team is a mess this week at practice. IDK how they couldn't be, honestly.

It's possible that the juxtaposition to the Gurley case might shame FSU into action. Who knows?

When they're shooting them in public, out of cars, and hitting, or nearly hitting pedestrians and cars. I believe that is suspension worthy. No doubt about it.

So I have a quick question. It was announced a few months ago that FSU was paying for an insurance policy on JW for him. How is that right? Does a University buy that for every kid? I know they offer insurance to students, but am not sure if is in line with that or not. Anyone know how it works?

Rumors are that Vegas is halting betting on the game with the uncertainty of Winston's status.
