Blake Barnett congratulated Brandon on his commitment via twitter. Hope they get to play each other in the playoff someday.

So basically they're like ND fans..

I'm not saying they are right or wrong, just that the PSU fans I know are fairly rational and are saying that this doesn't kill their class.

Now if we can somehow steal McLean or Reid... they will go bonkers. So let's hope for that.

Welcome Brandon!

I saw Hackenburg play this year in Dublin and his release is just so wierd, he will never be a top Pro QB. He just does not zip the ball and his throwing motion seems so slow to me for sure a big, strong kid.

Question is, will Wimbush ever see playing time in ND. Especially if Golson returns next year, and waiting behind Zaire and Kizer?

We've been blessed with relative health since the Dayne Crist days at QB, I don't remember any major injuries. At some point our depth will be tested and I like the idea of having many QB's with the same skill set to extend plays and pick up yards with their feet.

Excited by this pickup and happy this kid chose ND b/c of the doors it will open in life, he gets it, very nice to see!

Truth is, no one knows. With all the variables. Nothing is without a doubt.

After seeing the bleacher report video on the last page, it is clear that Kelly has a type of quarterback he "likes." It is also clear that Winbush and ND is a marriage made in heaven.

There is a lot to shake out, but I have a gut feeling that ND is in a position where it is going to have four very dynamic quarterbacks, all who can be brought along together, any of whom can be fit into the plan without any fuss, whatsoever.

In fact, if things go well, this might be as deep as ND has been at quarterback, from front to back, since my memory began serving me . . .

without a doubt. it's almost embarrassing to have this stack of talent.

Wow. I do not agree with this. I see hack being a first rounder and having a good nfl career.

Not to derail the Wimbush thread, but it's related: I do hope Kizer gets a fair shot; he seems like a real ND kid.

I remember the story when he verballed: he talked about the school and about how he and his family loved the school, the education, the campus, the atmosphere....and how he cut off taking visits to other schools, because there was no point, because (a) he keeps his word, once he gives it and (b) he had found the perfect place. I'd like a bit of a happy ending to that.

Projections, projections, projections! We've got a couple thousand Gil Brandt's on this board! lol

I'm not the least worried about who starts, who might jump ahead of who, who will transfer, who is better at ....

There are so many variables that come into play, but the biggest one doesn't have a thing to do with physical tools. It's what's between the ears. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you can't handle pressure (ability to learn offense, read defenses, assimilate everything quickly, handle BK in your ear, be a leader, etc.) than the physical tools don't matter.

The staff has done a great job of landing talent. Who supplants Golson when he leaves? Who knows? Time will tell.

I think you mean the "rumored violation/academic honor code/parents of players/1951 west point scandal/Russian literature/defections/attack on Irish insiders/banned IE posters/coaching/sex/music/internecine warfare/waffle" thread, don't you?

Now that Kelly is attracting more guys that fit the profiles he's looking for, the next question is how potent can this offense be?

I don't know if his SPARQ score was ever posted
Wimbush, Barkley post big SPARQ numbers

Quarterback Brandon Wimbush was the top quarterback finisher, posting a score of 123.03, good for 20th position overall. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound prospect ran a 4.62-second 40-yard dash, a 4.09-second agility shuttle, a 44-foot powerball toss and a 32.7-inch vertical leap.

And just to add some context to that absurd powerball performance, that was the #2 score posted by any attendee so he tied Porter Gustin and beat out guys like Malik Jefferson, Neville Gallimore, Justin Hilliard and Byron Cowart in an event that's supposed to measure core and upper body strength. Only Josh Sweat outperformed him on that one.

So I don't doubt he's got a STRONG arm.

The staff is just amazing in their recruiting, and adding this kid is awesome. Nice to have a stockpile, hope they all are patient and will hang in there until there time comes.
