This is crazy, one week ago he was not under "our radar" and now he is ours. How could this happen that fast? Welcome Brandon!

Franklin seems to have a struggling sophomore Hackenberg and no '15 recruit, bummer.

From NFL.com:

"QB Christian Hackenberg, Penn State: The heralded signal-caller is mired in a sophomore slump this season as he transitions to a new offensive scheme under James Franklin. Hackenberg is only connecting on 57.9 percent of his throws and sports a 4:6 touchdown-to-interception ratio through five games. The 2013 Big Ten Freshman of the Year hasn't been as accurate as anticipated nor shown the poise expected of a second-year starter touted as a future top pick. While it is completely reasonable to expect a young quarterback to struggle a bit while adjusting to a new coaching staff, Hackenberg's performance against Northwestern (22 of 45 for 216 yards and an interception) was not up to par and he has been a mild disappointment this season."

EDIT:
I should add, PSU did bring in two QBs last year (Michael O'Connor and Trace McSorley), but I don't know how they compare to Wimbush.

Time for ESPN to drop him from #71. He becomes the highest ND verbal on the ESPN 300 board.

I think a lot of this has to do with the coaching staff. Some playcallers will do what is going to work for their QB and others will do what they want their QB to be able to do. Hackenburg was great last year and showed a lot of poise. This year he just looks awful and the regression has to at least be partially Franklin. Maybe we didn't give near enough credit for what Bill O'Brien did as a coach up there.

On Brandon: Welcome to the Irish!

A lot of this goes back to the fact that Franklin hasn't shown that he's actually a good coach. Recruiter and Bullshitter, absolutely. Coach, TBD.

Superb. I'm shocked how this developed over the last week. Hopefully this puts a premium on our last WR spot in this class. His SPARQ score is also high enough that he could shift to another position if another log jam happens in QB depth. That's a good problem to have.

HELL YES.

PSU Fans think it was family and coach that helped push him to ND. Coach was quoted as having said he wanted BW to take officials... I'll be interested to see if he takes any more seeing as how we were his first.

Also, Minkah, come on down.
