I stayed a night in Birmingham back in 1978 (or so). I damn near turned around when I saw the 20x10 foot "Governor George Wallace Welcomes You To Alabama" sign.

I think I also grabbed a bite to eat and a tank of gas gas back in '70 on my way to Dallas from Orlando for the '71 Cotton Bowl. There was possibly a stop on the way back as well, but I was pretty well fried by then.

I think that gas was 35 cents a gallon.

I believe I joked about naming a kickass black guitar I tweaked out that. But I never did give it a name. It's currently trade bait. I have favorites, and it isn't one of them currently.

For shame ...I had a fretless bass named Desdemona. I sold it to a pawn shop and bought a banjo. Still kick myself over that. That was the best sounding bass I ever owned.

Edited to add: I was really hoping to find a picture of that old "pedo crab" that used to circulate the message boards back in the 90's / early 00's that had a big old hand-drawn-with-microsoft-paint red crab with this big nasty moustache and it said "a/s/l?" on it. But I couldn't find it. So I just posted the "a/s/l" part and now I feel like a creeper. It was supposed to be funny, you guys. I promise I'm not that creepy.
