Who's ready to make some noise?
You bet. Time to get chastised by some folks telling me I can't stand all game...and told that booing the opposing band in unsportsmanlike (prob will not get this opportunity against Stanford).
Watching Stanford...
1. It's a horrible matchup for us, because I'm not sure how we move the ball.
2. Stanford looks like they'd be the best team in the country IF they didn't mentally implode so frequently. It's really insane how many mistakes they made against USC/Washington.
3. Will they make the same number of mental mistakes against us? Their skill position players on offense aren't scary and I don't think their OL has been as good as advertised.
4. Their defense last year was as good (or better?) than this one when you look at personnel. We scored 20 points and had a chance to win that game... on the road. I refuse to believe that we can't win this game, even if on paper this is a nightmare of a matchup.
5. I expect Vegas to install Stanford as 3 to 6 point favorites.
I know that Hunter only played a little last night but he could be huge for this game.
Not the same animal. These guys are salty on defense and play with much greater speed and athleticism than any defense we have seen. I agree with Lax, this is a nightmare matchup for us. I don't see how we move the ball. Certainly don't see how we go the length of the field.
Are we more offensively/defensively skilled than Washington? I say we are by a fair margin and they had a chance to win. Why is everyone acting like this team is so damned unbelievable? Their offense isn't anything to brag home about and I don't see this being a 14-10 kind of game. They are going to have to get into the 20s and that will be more difficult for them than for us.
Different level of D or not we will put up points if we don't turn it over. Plain and simple.

FWIw, Washington has been scoring a ton of points, Hawaii game not included, where their QB was suspended.
And we haven't? Didn't they just say we've scored the most points thru 4 games since the 30s?
Up front they are the best we will have seen on both sides of the ball. But I don't see their skill players as that special. I also think Golson is the most talented skill player on the field in this game. Add in it's a home game and I think it's ours as long as we take care of football.
Just my opinion.
Never said we didn't. Just saying that fwiw, Washington was lighting it up until yesterday.
I'm not aware of their schedule, who had they played before Stanford? And I, like wooly do expect them to hold us lower than our average, but winner of this game will still be in the 20s.
Do you have more confidence in us getting in the 20s or them?

My god some of guys act like the Stanford defense is the better version of the Seattle Seahawks or something. Are they the best defense we've played so far? Yes but we're the best offense they've played so far. I mean seriously what QB have they played that is on EG's level? Maybe Kessler on USC but Stanford lost that game. It's probably kind of easy to be #1 when you've played UC-Davis, Army, and Washington. That Washington QB was inept and had they had a better QB they might have won that game. This game (And future ones against FSU and other powerhouses) is why I've been fuming about the OL and our weak to average run game. #1 pass defense, as Veritate Duce Progredi said. We're not going to be able to rely on the passing game like we have in recent weeks. We may struggle to put points on the board. I only hope BVG can continue his string of strong defensive performances.
Could having Hunter Jr return kicks be an option with Amir out? Maybe we don't do that if he isn't 100%, but GB just didn't look comfortable returning last night.
Maybe this is posted in a different thread, but it appears we stayed really healthy after last night. Were there any injuries to report? Really hope amir is back too.

Would love I see KVR shadowing Montgomery all game.
Come off of the ledge homie. They aren't nearly as good as you are saying here. Washington kept it close and ARMY rushed for 198 yards against this team. We have a good offense. This may be lower scoring than our season average, but there is no reason we shouldn't be able to move the ball.
