A thread to decipher the value and need for some of our best. Top 5
1: Golson, find him invaluable with his athleticism. He gets down on himself a bit too much after mistakes but he can be our QB for 30 years If possible! Needs to have more confidence within himself after a bad throw.
2: Schmidt, GREAT tackler! The guy just hits and he is the mind of our D! Doesn't get near enough credit as far as I'm concerned. Finds himself out of position too much to make the play. speed is a necessity.
3:Redfield, Unbelievable nose for the ball! He is around every play and makes some terrific hits like LB. Needs to keep his head up and Sunday will come.
4:Robinson, Hands like Rice, mind like his father. What else could you say about the man. Add some body weight and he'll be better than Moss and set records.
5:Day, Great pass rush ability with a lot of upside. He seems to get lost in some of the shuffle at times but he is who the O-line worries about and why we can get to the next level at times. Bursts are great but he needs a bit more consistency
I'd like to hear who your top 5 are and whom you you think are sleepers. Torii Hunter Is my sleeper agent whom just added to his father's name tonight, can he stay the course is the question.

1. Hands like Ray Rice? You mean he delivers the knockout punch? (too soon?)

2. I hope you mean Kate Moss because he has one TD in college. Moss might've been the greatest receiver I've ever seen.

Yeah I don't think he's anywhere near as fast as Moss. Does have some great hands though, I'm sure he will add some muscle and I hope he adds a little speed as well. Could definitely be dangerous in the future if he isn't already!

Robinson's a solid wide receiver, but no Randy Moss. That's OK.
Anyway, to the original post:
1: Golson, obvs. He's the engine of our entire offense (though unlike last year, I think we could run our offense with the #2 as well). The degree to which he seemed disappointed in his performance tonight says a lot about him.
2: Nick Martin. I say this because right now, in the next six days, our offensive line need to stand up and get it together. And I think it starts with him. We won't beat Stanford and FSU and USC if they play like they've played the last couple of games. Martin's the best of the bunch. We need him to lead them to be what they're capable of.
3: Jaylon Smith. Schmidt's a ballplayer and I love Sheldon Day. But Jaylon's the most important piece of our defense. Covers so much ground he takes pressure off all around him.
4: Redfield. Our defensive back play has been tremendous so far, and it starts with having a great safety. Like the OP said, he's got a nose for the ball, hits hard to stop the run, and is good in coverage. Makes the CBs jobs way easier, and appears to have gotten communication problems squared away.
5: Jarron Jones. We're going to get some teams that are going to challenge us inside. Jones has had a good year so far, but we're going to lean on him more and more. And he's got the potential to be a difference-maker of the sort Nix was. Hope he lives up to it.

BTW, I don't mean to minimize our RBs or WRs in this, it's just that I think we're deep enough at both positions that no individual is all that valuable. Also, while I think this is the best offense we've had under Kelly, I actually think it's our defense that's going to win us games (not what I would have thought going into the season). They're that talented and well-coached.

HAHA come on, dude. Randy Moss? 3,500+ yards receiving, 174 receptions, and 54 TDs in TWO SEASONS Randy Moss? I like you, dude, but you're crazy.

Schmidt was always around the ball which I admire and respect his nose for the ball but he will get KILLED by teams like Stanford and FSU because of his size alone. I noticed several thats where he was blasted by blockers or simply doesn't have the size of power to knock the runner back. I know I'll probably get crucified for saying all this.

Randy Moss was extremely fast. Corey Robinson is slow. Other than that, I see it.
