OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A man fired from an Oklahoma food processing plant beheaded a woman with a knife and was attacking another worker when he was shot and wounded by a company official, police said Friday.

Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis says police are waiting until the 30-year-old man is conscious to arrest him in Thursday's attack and have asked the FBI to help investigate after co-workers at Vaughan Foods told authorities that he recently started trying to convert several employees to Islam.

Yeah its hard to say what the exact mindset of this guy was. He was let go of his job and it looks as though there could be some mental illness involved, but the latter is simply my own opinion. Not sure if he was a legitimate Islamic extremist, or if he was simply mentally unstable, angry because he was fired and acted out in relation to whatever ideas he had of religious following.

Or he could simply be an extremist who killed what he considered to be an enemy, an infidel.

I'm sure the feds will do a thorough investigation and classify it as an act of workplace violence, no different than the Fort Hood shooting.

What makes you think it wasn't workplace violence? He gets fired and then goes and tries to kill a few employees ( and does kill one), pretty much textbook definition of workplace violence. Did I miss something?

It's not that I think it was or wasn't. I just have zero confidence in the feds investigating or characterizing the incident after the Fort Hood disaster.

I don't know his motive but I think it's reasonable to assume it could be more than textbook workplace violence.

Oklahoma Department of Corrections records show the suspect has multiple, apparently religious tattoos, including one referencing Jesus and one in Arabic that means "peace be with you."

Moore police have asked the FBI to aid in the investigation and look into the man's background because of the nature of the attack, which comes in the wake of a series of videotaped beheadings by Islamic State militants.

turns out no FBI needed...apparently his facebook account pretty much tells ya all ya need to know.

Of course it was workplace violence...of course the guy went postal and killed folks because he got fired...

...but when you fvcking saw someone's head off...I think you instantly become something FAR, FAR more sinister than some dud who went postal...

Based on what he said while doing the violence, and HOW he carried it out (allegedly), he planned his attack as an offering of support to our enemy. As such, we cannot simply treat him like someone who lost it because he got canned...he had goals beyond avenging his workplace situation, and those have to further aggravate this situation.

Guys like him and Nidal Hassahn...bullet to the head...maybe a buckwheat first...

The more coverage the media gives this nut job, the bigger chance we have of more shit like this happening. There's probably already a line of wackos wanting to convert and kill someone as part of a cause.

My aunt lives about 2 miles from where this happened. I talked to her this morning and apparently there are a lot of very scared people. She mentioned something about finally getting a concealed carry license and learning to shoot. About time!
