I bolded the ranked teams. Yes, Ohio State only plays ONE RANKED TEAM ALL YEAR. Michigan plays two. We play six.

My question is... if given Ohio State's schedule... would anyone predict anything worse than 11-1? We'd likely be 14+ point favorites in all but one game.

Unless OSU wins out and looks dominant doing so, their playoff hopes went up in smoke tonight. Serves 'em right for putting together such a pathetic schedule.

I don't see it happening.

I see 9-3. Maybe 8-4.

10-2 would be unreal. 11-1 and we'll be in the bracket.

LAX has explicitly stated that he prefers the way Alabama schedules. OSU is notorious for having shit schedules year in and out as well as being in probably the worst of the power conferences which is why the go undefeatedcall the time.

Yeah, because it'd be easy as fuck to win AT LEAST 10 games every year, get great recruits, have good feelings, and compete for championships all while still playing "big time" football.

I'd never want it AS BAD as Ohio State though. With just Stanford, USC, and the 5 ACC we're looking at roughly 3 games a year that will be harder than the hardest game Ohio State plays.

So all I really advocate is that in our 4 "flex" games we don't go crazy scheduling teams that are worldbeaters and focus on building a manageable schedule around our built in tough games.

Pretty much this. Have your tough games, but make sure you build in buffer games around them so you avoid "unwinnable gauntlets" and the like.

That's fair, but a lot of the commentary I've seen early this season has RIPPED cupcake scheduling based on the premise that the committee isn't going to forgive those games like the computers did. I think the new trend will be for teams to go the ND route with scheduling rather than the other way around. We shall see.

I have said it before that I think with ND having one less game every year we need to play at least one more reputable/ranked team each year than others. For the record UNC is probably not as good as I thought. They played two games against inferior teams that they have really struggled against.

I've said many times I don't think this season may end well, even after last night i still feel 8 wins is very probable... Not because they aren't good but because that kind of grind wears anyone down, beats anyone up and creates losses...

If we did play OSUs schedule Id think a playoff birth would be extremely probable...

Interesting, I was out quite a bit this morning and I saw no Michigan gear. One guy had OSU on.

I even went to Walmart. They had the Michigan gear on markdown. There were a few people that wanted to go over to the table, but when they saw we were looking at them, they finally walked away. Had to leave because I wasn't planning on shopping there and I wasn't going to buy anything.

Nailed it. And you can sub MSU for really any kind of "marquee" game you want. Playing two top PAC team, a top ACC (or two depending on year), and then one fun game against a rival or big name plus 3 gimmes gives you a high probability of 9+ wins while still achieving a very exciting schedule.
