Two things. First, we don't stand at ND. Two, you seem passionate. Find me at the game and I'll give you a cheer cone.
Q-tips behind me beware!

Would like to hear some of you football guru's opinions on them after re-watching the game.
FWIW, physically, Rice looked better than App. St. on both lines.
To the extent it matters, USA Today ranked App. State around 119 and ranked Rice in the 60s.
I watched the Michigan game. I turned it off at halftime because it was pointless. Our coaches are going to get nothing out of that film either, whereas Michigan might get a little something out of our film versus Rice (but not too much).
App State was so physically mismatched it was almost comical. Michigan had guys running wide open with no one covering them all day. And if you evaluated Michigan's OL based on that game, you'd say they were world beaters. They were blowing holes wide open in the running game and the pass protection was great.
If KVR is back, you can just stick him on Funchess and call it a day. He's not fast/quick enough to get open against someone like KVR and KVR has the size to play the jump ball. The rest of their WRs seemed very decent but weren't utilized because Michigan barely even threw the ball... very tough to evaluate.
Michigan basically just ran the ball up the middle again and again and again with App State being horrible. I wasn't in love with our run defense, and I'm not sure we're going to be able to pressure Gardner while also keeping contain. That's my primary concern... broken plays and the physicality of our MIKE linebacker. Michigan's backs are downhill runners.
On offense, I was impressed by the Michigan front 7. They look fast and physical. I think they will get lots of pressure against us and make it hard to run the ball. I do not, however, think they have any ELITE players. And I didn't think their secondary was anything special. But both units played vanilla.
That's being incredibly optimistic. I hope you're right, but I don't share your enthusiasm here. Let's hope that their O line is as bad as reported and Gardner isn't comfortable at all and makes bad decisions.
Funchess made a living as a TE beating up on LBs/safeties. Yesterday he made a living running wide open against zone coverage or physically mismatching small CBs.
I don't see how someone like him can get separation on someone like KVR.
My cousin keeps calling Funchess Megatron. I laughed when he came out in the #1. I thought that was reserved for the special ones. He is a hell of a blocker though, down field all the time steam rolling the secondary.
Pat eilars is helping coach while McCarthy is dealing with treatments...got permission from ncaa...great to add that as he was a great def player
Jaylon dislocated finger , reset on sideline
Riggs will not play safety regardless of kvr comes back
Shumate and Redfield need the work on communication
BK said Joe S. Was the best def player yesterday
Thought Jaylon made some mental mistakes
More freshman will play on def
We didn't h bring a rush because we wanted to keep him in pocket and throw....great idea and explains a lot
Still no word on the 5
Bk was very pleased with Cole Luke
2012 was 7 pts IIRC.

I don't know if that's true. I despise michigan, but Funchess is basically their version of Eifert, and Eifert was catching balls over Bama CBs. I love Russell, but I'm not buying the same lockdown, 1st-round draft pick business yet. Also, as somebody else posted, Funchess is 6'5. What we need to do is make sure we can limit Funchess and their other receivers aren't anything special. If we can limit Funchess and contain Gardner we can win. After watching our D against Rice, I don't know if that'll happen. I know people are acting as if losing Ishaq is addition by subtraction but I was legitimately excited to see him play at DE. His athleticism would have been great against Gardner.
ND will win, crushing them by 20+ points. Golson will pass for 200, throwing TD to Daniels and Robinson. Folston and Bryant will run for 250+, each scoring TD's. The defense under VG will have a breakout game, tea-bagging the Wolverines for 3 TO's and multiple TFL, including 4 sacks. The win will set the Irish up for a great season and an invite to the playoffs.
Prediction, ND 46, UM 13
It matters. A "Beat Down" of epic proportions is on a direct head on collision with Michigan. It will be ugly. It will be beautiful. It will result in a definitive ND victory.
38-10.
no italics.
My gut says a 6'5'' WR/ TE doesn't need a lot of separation against a 5'10'' corner or safety. Just extend the arms.
If Ishaq comes back, I think he fucks Mason Cole up all night. Fuck Michigan.
Simply put, win because I hate that he wears #98.

My gut says I don't care if he's 8' 5", if we can force Gardner in to inaccurate thows, Funchess will not destroy our secondary. One thing Gardner has always struggled with is his accuracy when pressured or moved from his drop back set. We need to ensure we do that. However, he's mobile like the Rice QB, which most likely means we won't pressure him because we don't wan him running.
