inking about it now, it’s kind of funny that all Josh Myers wanted to do heading into his freshman season at Miamisburg (Ohio) High was hopefully start on the offensive line.

He indeed earned that starting job, which was just the tip of the iceberg for Myers.

Holding 18 scholarships heading into his sophomore year, 247Sports pegged the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Myers as one of three five-stars nationally when releasing its Top100 Monday for the class-of-2017. He checks in as the country’s top offensive lineman and No. 3 prospect overall.

“I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to do what I’m doing,” Myers said. “It’s a great feeling and I’m just happy to be able to do it.

“It’s hard to explain the feeling.”

Roughly eight months ago, when Indiana was first to offer the class-of-2017 talent a scholarship, he had tears in his eyes. The process started rolling from there and now Myers is entertaining scholarships from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and West Virginia.

“Harry Hiestand at Notre Dame, (Mario) Cristobal at Alabama, the guys at Ohio State are amazed at his ability and level of understanding, saying this guy could come in and compete almost right now,” Miamisburg High head coach Steve Channell said. This spring, Myers attended camp at nearly every school that has offered.

“Physically his overall strength and mobility is ahead of last year. He is slowly filling into his body. Last year he was a 6-5, 280-pound kid that was trying to get total body control. Now he’s 6-5, 6-6, 290 and he has better body coordination and mobility. With being a year older he’s a year better.

“I think he’s one of the top players in the country without a doubt.”

Myers older brother Zach is a sophomore offensive lineman at Kentucky, where their father Brad also played offensive line. Mother Julie played basketball at Dayton.

Where the younger Myers will play on the next level is a long ways from being decided. He feels a connection with many of the programs that have extended a scholarship.

“I didn’t know what to expect meeting college coaches, and to be honest they’ve all been so nice and great people, and they’ve all made the experience so enjoyable.”

The enjoyment will continue this fall when he takes game visits. Myers said he’s planning to get to Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State among others.

“I’m trying to figure all that out too,” Myers said.

Not sure if you know that Mrs./Dr. Myers – Josh's mom – is the team doctor at Miamisburg,” our source said. “I just got done talking to her. She is a big catholic girl. She went to high school at (Kettering) Alter and then went to college at UD (University of Dayton).

“She really wants Josh to go to Notre Dame. Said it was her dream for all her boys. But she said Josh was blown away by Urban Meyer’s visit to Miamisburg. She said: ‘I wanted Josh to go to Alter, but he wanted to play for Miamisburg. And I want him to go to Notre Dame, but he's going to Ohio State and he wants to commit early. He's already growing weary of the recruiting process.’”

That sucks, but mom has plenty of time to change his mind.

Gonna be tuff with Eichenberg too, OSU trending. We really needed them to get blown out by Bama.

We have a hard time pulling public school kids out of Ohio, most that come out seem to be from private schools.
