I agree about the majority of what you typed but Bama is reasonable at #2. Their continued success and highly ranked classes are reason enough to keep them at the spot. Couple that with Saban's success over the past 5 years and it's unreasonable to put many teams above them.

With that said, I hope for the destruction of Alabama like the Persians hoped to destroy Greece but it won't happen without a strong force.

Based on recruiting, Bama should win the next 4 years. PERIOD :)

So barring something crazy in the USC game, we should move up to #14, #15 at worst.

Will pass loser of LSU/Wisconsin, Clemson, and likely South Carolina.

I do not believe Michigan will be ranked, but they might sneak in.

A&M may lose 5-6 games this year as they are not a top 25 type team. Ole Miss is the same ole song and dance. Looks great on paper but underachieves. Auburn is not top 5 due to their defense's glaring lack in the secondary and a few key injuries up front. Bama is not # 2 as they have several holes to fill and are going into fall camp without a starting QB. LSU is in the same boat. SCar is probably where they should be. Ga may be as well but with all their off the field issues, they could tank. Overall, the SEC teams are getting the benefit of the doubt here with where they are positioned.

A&M is that good. Gamecocks are not that good. And as long as Gurley is playing, Ga. will be a monster to deal with. And the Bulldog's 2 FR backs are better than the starters on most every other team. And I will never count out a 'Bama team coached by Nick.

I think Michigan will be ranked. Pretty sure they were already receiving votes.

They received quite a few votes preseason. I could see them sneaking in.

Ok.... why should we care about the coaches poll rankings? The committee won't release a ranking until October and that is all that matters right? Also the coaches poll is notoriously biased, so.... what is the deal here?

Cause it looks good to have a number next to your name, the lower the better. And the voters are human, so they'll notice that number to.

I will have much less respect for the playoff process if the coaches poll in any way influences the committee.

Well they'll never admit to it, but you see 'LSU is #14' for 4 straight weeks, you start to believe it.

Are you sayin' that a coaches poll may be biased? Skewed? Inaccurate? Uninformed? Screwball? Self-serving? Bullshyte? Worthless? All of those?

We should move ahead of the LSU/Wisconsin loser and Clemson but considering the proclivity for SEC teams SCAR may not fall far enough. I also expect A&M to shoot up in the polls and would not be surprised to see them pass ND. It is the COACHES Poll.

As for UM they were 37th in the Preseason Poll. It's quite possible that nobody falls out of that Top 25 and there are a lot of teams ahead of the Weasels.

Not at all. It's merely a reflection of the bonuses in the coaches contracts for rankings coupled with the conferences Revenue Sharing Programs.

I refuse to believe the playoff committee poll wont mirror the Coaches and AP polls.

I think that is a reasonable top 4. They all played stiffer competition and won. Alabama didn't look great but they are probably sitting at number 5.

I call BS on FSU at #2. They looked rather pedestrian.

Lou put as at #4. I love him but his bias makes people hate us more.

Yeah that is a little silly early on. I think we are somewhere around 12 or 13 right now with plenty of potential to move up from that depending on next Saturday.

Wait until week 5 or 6, that's when polls start to matter. Good for ND to already be in the mix though.

Quick look: Amway Coaches Poll college football top 25

1) FSU
2) Alabama
3) Oklahoma
4) Oregon
5) Auburn
6) Ohio State
7) UCLA
8) Michigan State
9) South Carolina
10) Baylor
11) Stanford
12) Georgia
13) LSU
14) Wisconsin
15) USC
16) Clemson
17) Notre Dame
18) Arizona State
19) Ole Miss
20) Texas A&M
21) Kansas State
22) Nebraska
23) North Carolina
24) Texas
25) Washington

After week 1 here is how mine would look.

1.) Georgia - Not that I think they are the best team in the country, but they earned it more than anybody based on performance.
2.) Oregon - They always look good until they face a quality defense, should be interesting this week.
3.) Michigan State - They will be a tough out. Should be a great game up in Eugene.
4.) Oklahoma - They invariably lose some they shouldn't, but looked good in their opener.
5.) Texas A&M - I thought South Carolina was a bit overrated, but they hammered them.
6.) Stanford - They are going to be a tough out as well. Dominant performance.
7.) USC - Man, they could be scary good. A lot of ND opponents really looked dangerous.
8.) FSU - Didn't look that impressive, but they are still loaded with athletes. Doubt they will see many like that 24 from OK State.
9.) Baylor - Didn't play yet, but they should be about right here until they prove otherwise.
10.) Arizona St. - They looked pretty dominant. They have all sorts of weapons. Will be a tough game down there.
11.) Notre Dame - Has already been discussed a ton here, but dominated a 10 win team from a year ago.
12.) LSU - They were getting dominated, but then had a great fourth quarter. I think they will just get better with their young skill position players.
13.) Auburn - They were getting beat on the line of scrimmage for a while, but they have a ton of weapons.
14.) Alabama - If the SEC had some good QBs, Alabama could be in danger early. There aren't a ton of outstanding passing attacks in the SEC though.
15.) Nebraska - They rolled in week 1. I think they will be pretty decent this year.
16.) Ohio St. - Navy gave them fits, however, contrary to what ESPN always says, Navy is a tough out.
17.) UCLA - their offense did not look good
18.) Kansas State - I did not watch them at all, but they rolled.
19.) Texas - I think Charlie will have them playing good ball.
20.) Wisconsin - They looked great through three quarters.
21.) South Carolina - There is no way you give up 52 at home and deserve to be ranked in the top 20. I don't think they should be ranked in the top 25, but they will be since they are in the SEC.
22.) Ole Miss - Boise gave them a game for three quarters. I don't think they are as good as their rating.
23.) Clemson - Looked ok for the first half. Second half they got dominated.
24.) Louisville - Will be curious to watch how they look. This may be too low for them.
25.) Michigan - They did what you are supposed to go against good high school teams. Their defense is really good though, and Funchess is a tough match up. I am not buying their running game yet, though.
