Thing is dude, he was NEVER coming to ND. He was a bad fit both on the field and off. 3 things here:
1. This kid is going to be the leader of your program. No way can the leader of your program be the kind of kid who openly questions whether or not he could work with the head coach because he hears he's too tough on his QB's. Sure, he came to ND and said he liked BK after all and would be fine playing for him, but that quote set off major red flags for me. Because A) I don't want Kelly treating his QB's with kid gloves, cause that's not his style and he needs to be true to himself, and B) that quote made Eason sound soft, whether it was true or not.
2. His dad, despite being a legacy, is a stage dad in every sense according to one reporter I know. Blake Barnett's dad was bad enough (and he was the reason BB decommited...his mom was all ND); ND did not need another one of those at the QB position.
3. He's a pro-style kid, and he and his dad had real concerns about that and how BK would utilize him in the offense. Georgia runs a pro-style, so it's a better fit.
This is not a loss for ND, because he was just never going to be Irish. I was shocked he smoothed things over with the Irish staff and we even made his top 5. And this isn't sour grapes on my part...I told Ironman and Whiskey this stuff probably over 2 months ago.
Quarterback recruits need to see this offense in action this year, and if it's humming, the interest will absolutely be there. If you see Patterson and Henry committing to other schools, then yes, be worried, but right now, personally, I'm not worried at all. (If we have a crappy year, then I'm REALLY worried lol.)
