Per II, Kelly is expected to speak with Tony Eason (Jacob's dad) today. Another step in building the relationship. The Eason's are extremely diligent in their process and this is a good/necessary step. Jacob really enjoyed his time with Coach LaFleur. LaFleur told Eason that he views him as a future 1st rd pick type of talent. The staff isn't worried about running the zone read and neither are the Eason's. As long as he's mobile enough (which he is) to move around the pocket, run roll outs, etc. he'll be fine in Kelly's system.

But can he pass admissions!?

Honestly, I think he could be deadly in their offense.

lol off to a good start with '16 QBs - Henry favoring UCLA and FSU, now this. Thanks for everything, Blake.

And before anyone says anything- I know I know, long way to go. Blah blah blah...

Lol calm down man. Besides that he his a legacy, Eason and ND don't really fit. We were never gonna land him. I GUARANTEE we land an elite 2016 QB.

Golson was 3 star late pick up that is undersized. If he can finish strong, I am fine with what we get for QB's because BK knows what he is looking for. Just avoid Rees type guys...

This is sucky because of the future games with Georgia. Kids a star but I'm glad he's committed early so our coaches can reshuffle their 2016 efforts.

QB recruits don't seem blown away by Lafleur so far.

What makes you think that?

We are in a good situation and I was pretty sure I read we are passing on QB's this year. Any QB that commits NOW for 2016, I wouldn't feel secure about anyway before he see's a product.

I have been curious about Lefluer because everything I get to read never really mentions him so I know I missed many articles.

What are you basing this optimism on? I mean, I hope you're right, just curious what you have seen or heard to make such a proclamation..

Panic setting in for 2016 QBs. Lol. I just want to get through the rest of 2014 if that's alright.

Kid wasn't a fit. It was never gonna happen. It was clear as day. ND did their due diligence. Eyes set on several elite QBs. Relax.

Bottom line is BB derailed QB recruiting for the foreseeable future. Sorry if it's not all unicorns and fairies for me right now. Perfect fit or not, ND would be lucky to get a kid the caliber of Eason. BK has done more with less regarding not so perfect fits for what it's worth...

Great pickup gor Georgia. Better fit than ND. We will get our dual threat giy next year and all will be well. Congrats to Eason.

I remember this time last year, an elite QB was a "sure thing" then too.

We have good QB's on the roster now, but landing a quality '16 QB has to be a priority. Sucks to see a legacy commit elsewhere already. It's super early though. Who knows.

Thing is dude, he was NEVER coming to ND. He was a bad fit both on the field and off. 3 things here:

1. This kid is going to be the leader of your program. No way can the leader of your program be the kind of kid who openly questions whether or not he could work with the head coach because he hears he's too tough on his QB's. Sure, he came to ND and said he liked BK after all and would be fine playing for him, but that quote set off major red flags for me. Because A) I don't want Kelly treating his QB's with kid gloves, cause that's not his style and he needs to be true to himself, and B) that quote made Eason sound soft, whether it was true or not.

2. His dad, despite being a legacy, is a stage dad in every sense according to one reporter I know. Blake Barnett's dad was bad enough (and he was the reason BB decommited...his mom was all ND); ND did not need another one of those at the QB position.

3. He's a pro-style kid, and he and his dad had real concerns about that and how BK would utilize him in the offense. Georgia runs a pro-style, so it's a better fit.

This is not a loss for ND, because he was just never going to be Irish. I was shocked he smoothed things over with the Irish staff and we even made his top 5. And this isn't sour grapes on my part...I told Ironman and Whiskey this stuff probably over 2 months ago.

Quarterback recruits need to see this offense in action this year, and if it's humming, the interest will absolutely be there. If you see Patterson and Henry committing to other schools, then yes, be worried, but right now, personally, I'm not worried at all. (If we have a crappy year, then I'm REALLY worried lol.)

We're in the top group for multiple QBs. Golson should impress this year. No '15 QB is enticing for '16 QBs. Yes it sucks Barnett decommitted but his decommittment helps with '16 QBs if anything.

Malik and Kizer.

Word on the street is they are elite. They are ND afterall... Why is it important to land '16 QB's?? Can we not go upper pack like #9 versus landing #19 years later?

I'm fully aware of Malik and Kizer (I said so... In the very post you quoted), but we probably aren't taking a QB in this class. So we will need someone to be next in line after Malik/Kizer. Seems pretty common sense to me.

The second part of your comment makes zero sense to me. Not that I disagree, but literally, I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

Great post, LA - reps.

I honestly had no idea regarding points 1 and 2, so I completely concede to that. As for #3, I hear you - LOUD AND CLEAR. However, my concern is whiffing on a '16 QB as well and being forced to bring in a much lower ceiling player than anyone on any of our wish lists. I guess I just feel that BK can do more with an elite pro style guy than he could with an average DT guy. That said, if Eason's quote on BK being too hard on his QBs is accurate, than this is all moot as it would be quite clear this kid - forgive me - does not have the chest lol

** EDIT - someone pls rep LA for me, says I must spread it around **

OK, that's fair to assume at this juncture I guess. I suppose I'm just a little snake bitten based on BB's recruitment. I suppose if Golson plays how we mostly believe he can, and in turn we are able to land one of the elite '16s in part because of that, then we should actually be sending the damn kid flowers lol

Not trying to start a fire here, but who the hell thinks Kizer is elite? Seriously. Can you name a single "expert" or insider?
