“Right now I have interest in all of them. I plan on going back to Florida State and back to Auburn and try and get up to Oregon and try and get up to Notre Dame.

Trying definitely isn't as good as planning. Don't get your hopes up.

Notre Dame coaches have access to a LOT of information that we and paid websites and recruitniks do not have the slightest chance of gaining access to.

Transcripts. Difficulty of courses taken, actual grades achieved, class ranking, ability to visit the high school and talk to coaches, principal and teachers and find out if this young man can fit in and succeed at Notre Dame. Getting to know parents and/or guardians etc. etc.

I think the coaches have to work very hard to find out all the relevant information. But, I believe the Notre Dame coaching staff has a pretty good idea of when a recruit is just trying to look good and smart by mentioning Notre Dame and when the recruit is really interested.

I do not think this is rocket science for the Notre Dame coaches. I commend them for working hard to find out the recruits who are genuinely interested and genuinely capable of succeeding at Notre Dame and working hard to get them to come to Notre Dame.

Yeah, I'm assuming ND knows he isn't serious but they will continue to recruit and you never know, get him on campus and maybe he falls in love

Starting to think pretty strongly that we don't land a QB this cycle. We lost a lot of ground as we thought Blake was our guy and we weren't putting in the early work with the other top prospects.

I'm fine with that as long as we have an early commit from a 2016 top recruit. The thought of going to 2016 SD without a QB for two years is frightening. At some point you just have get the best guy you can and move on.

I would doubt the staff would pass on QB two years in a row. Heck maybe a guy pops up this year that they like and they offer him. It could happen.

That is an option. Keep in mind that the staff hasn't made the decision to pass on recruiting a QB at this point they've just decided that they won't reach for one at this time that they aren't really high on. Meaning maybe a guy plays his butt off this year and earns an offer in November. Or maybe more QB dominoes fall later in the cycle. Francois chooses Oregon and Waller wants out. These are just random examples but from what I've gathered the staff is fine holding at QB for now and letting things play out. Some of this will also be centered around our current roster. If Malik doesn't win the starting job is he ok waiting his turn? How quickly is Kizer progressing?

What difference does it make that if it's an early commit or a later commit? Neither can sign until February 2016 anyway. Unless they enroll early which may be the case for Eason.

2016 recruit will jump to come here... If we don't get a 2015 recruit, it pretty much gurantees a town of early playing time which is very desirable

The possibility of early playing time. Nothing is guaranteed.

Per Christian at ISD, Francois has ND in his Top 4 and in theory has a visit scheduled later this month with a decision still coming at the end of July.

According to Christian: "ND got back in it when Alford cemented relationship."

Sounds positive. I've seen a lot of good buzz around Francois on Twitter today so if he's open to what we're selling, I'm on board. Great job by Alford even getting the visit.

That's great. He just seems highly unlikely.
On the taking/not taking a QB, it certainly doesn't look like we're getting a top-tier QB this cycle, but I really don't see what harm there is in taking a three-star with some upside who'd be glad to be here. It's not like we're that tight on scholarships, and that shouldn't scare away a stud the following year.
Nothing's guaranteed about the '16 class. Golson is one screw-up away from permanent exile (or could jump to the NFL). Transfers. Injuries. Shit happens. I can see like 18 scenarios were we go into the '15 or even '16 season with two recruited QBs on scholarship. I remember Pat Dillingham. Nate Montana. 2010 Tommy Rees. Andrew Hendrix against USC. Those are not experiences I'm eager to repeat.

Whether we take/don't take might depend on the health of our current 3. If we're halfway through the year and Golson is getting banged up or has missed games due to injury, I don't see how we can not take a QB this cycle.

Reported somewhere on this site that the staff wasn't going to take a QB this year since our targets flamed out on us. On the chance that this kid would want to commit, would the staff take him?

It is not a definite that the staff will pass on QB this cycle. It just looks to be trending that way. They are telling some 2016 QB's that because it looks like that is what will take place at the moment. If one of the QB's in 2015 that they've offered wanted to commit, I feel very confident they would take him. As of now the staff is comfortable not offering new QB's in this class because unless they get one they really want they are prepared to pass.

I think he did something pretty classy by including Tony Alford aka known as Notre Dame in his Final Four. It makes Notre Dame look good to top recruits. I do not think anyone at Notre Dame ever really thought he was ever coming to Notre Dame.

Tony Alford, keep doing the work. Notre Dame and Notre Dame fans appreciate what you have done and what you are doing.

we got some great recruiters on this staff that have had to put up with A LOT of BS from kids over the years. They don't receive the level of thanks they probably deserve, but they do a heck of a job
