Holy shit I wonder if Stanford fans are as butthurt about their admissions people as you bunch. How many of you have actually sat in a classroom with a Notre Dame football player? You don't have to be a fucking genius to get in on a football scholarship.

They screen them before giving them an offer and let them know when they've cleared admissions PRIOR to signing their LOI.

It's fucking simple dude.

You may be a smart person but sometimes you have no clue. Stanford would never do something like this. People aren't upset that he might have gotten denied, they are upset that he signed his NLI, came to campus, started taking classes and the. A month later was told there was an issue. If you can't tell the difference between that and not admitting someone (what Stanford does) then that is your problem.

Not sure why.

Anyway, no idea what it means, but Jay Hayes tweeted then deleted 'someone rip up this contract I signed'.

Maybe he bought a boat he didn't like, but I'm hoping it's nothing to do with ND.

Hmm... I don't know... maybe because it was, per usual, way off topic? You can make that post, just not in this thread.

Not really interested in starting a fire storm in yet another thread when there's nothing more substantial than a tweet.

So delete away, cap.

Yeah, this appears to be a pretty low ball move by ND if it went down as described. I'd be FURIOUS if I were Sykes. If he transfers to any school we see on the recruiting trail then you know the details of this will be used against us.

Yes. I'm trolling because Jay Hayes tweeted something that would indicate that he's not happy with his decision to come to ND, in a thread that has to do with someone potentially being kicked out of ND and I shared it.

If you think that's trolling, you clearly don't have a good understanding of what trolling is.

Looking at his offer list, it won't be anybody that can inflict damage anyways....

Wtf is your point dude? I've had classes with many ND football players. What does that have to do with ND un-admitting someone?

IF this is what happened and it had nothing to do with anything he did on campus (which is still TBD), EVERY offer of admission is contingent on final transcript review. I was accepted to ND in December of my Senior year but they still reserved the right to make sure I didn't fail senior English by the end of the year. You don't just "clear admissions." You "clear admissions pending completion of certain requirements at the appropriate standard."

I think there are ways to get around him having to sit out a year.

Letter becomes Null and Void

It's broken down in english here.

The NLI shall be declared null and void if, by the opening day of classes in the fall of the school year, the athlete has not met (a) the institution’s requirements for admissions, (b) its academic requirements for financial aid to student-athletes, or (c) the NCAA requirements for financial aid (NCAA Bylaw 14.3) or the junior college transfer requirements, provided the student-athlete has submitted all necessary documents for eligibility determination.

He did nothing wrong while he was on campus. He was screwed by ND.

This is an absurd situation. ND can no longer bitch about how other schools treat their players. Very disappointing news indeed.

I don't dispute any of that. That's not the core of the issue.

What people are taking issue with is that "final transcript review" happened after weeks of him being on campus. Granted, they have a short window to perform said review between when he graduates and then shows up at ND, but they are paid to do their job competently.

And to me, it's quite incompetent that they did not manage to review his transcript until weeks after he reported and was taking classes. That's what's bad about this.

We understand that but you don't wait till he is on campus taking classes for a month before telling him. That is the fucking problem.

I think people should chill out until we know exactly what happened.

Or go crazy, whatever works. But for me, to the gentleman's club!

I just hope Nile can appeal this decision. Might be able to use performance in summer courses as a barometer. Doubtful, but possible. Most kids would just say fuck you and move on to the next school.

But you can't blame them for not wanting to be here of going through the appeal process after something like this happens.

This x 100.....hope this can be fixed for his sake, even if he never plays a snap.

Per Josh Hemboldt who spoke to somebody very close to the situation (I'm assuming father/mother) he won't be attending ND

Its more then just going through the appeals process etc...how could you trust these people again? I don't blame him one bit and wish him nothing but the best.

Incredibly disappointed. I'm 100X more disappointed about this then about Hilliard going to OSU.

Damn that f*ckin sucks.

If what happened is what we think happened, I am really really considering changing my fandom from notre dame football.

I just have to shake my head a laugh at this one. In the midst of being pissed at the situation, this may be the most awesome critique of it and the current policies I've seen.
