Good-Bye Oregon. It's been nice to know you. Blake is enjoying being the flavor of the month. It looks like he is ready to commit to Alabama for a couple of weeks before once again questioning his choice and taking more visits in the Fall. I think ND was fortunate to get out of this one early. This is a recruit basking in the attention that has come his way since the original ND offer. I suspect he is a transfer waiting to happen when he finds he's not at the top of the depth chart on day one.

I will trust you on that, reps!

Reps, sir!

I think the way this class is shaping up even if we aren't okay with Waller, we will be fine with three good to great QB's on the depth chart with multiple years of eligibility left.

Worse come to worse, let's take a another quarterback killer as an elite pass rusher, for any future engagements!

I think one way or another we end up with a QB. I think the level of that QB and his skill set will be the deciding factor on who we target the most next recruiting season. JMO

Probably. But I would be okay with that kid from UofD High School as a preferred walk-on and targeting one of the top kids next year, and working on him early.

I wish we can delete this thread. If Brian Kelly unfollowed him, then he's gone. Time to move on and kick this thread to the curb..it's super annoying seeing his name keep getting bumped here.

At this point the only reason to keep a thread active on this misguided kid is the domino effect his recruitment might have on Waller's. But analyzing Barnett's video interviews isn't worth the bandwidth.

It's as if this kid woke up one day and said, "how can I fuck over Notre Dame? Let me count the ways..." The ONLY thing worse than him bailing on his commitment would be to commit to Bama, forcing Oregon to go full-court with Waller. On the other hand, Hopkins can eat a bag of dicks, so there's that.

To be honest, I am not worried about what happens with the QB position this year. I dont think we should waste an offer on some low-level QB if we cannot get one of the big 3 we are chasing now. We are sitting great for elite 2016 QBs and we have Golson, Zaire, and Kizer, all with multiple years of eligibility left. I feel great with Golson and Zaire; we have yet to see Kizer, but I think most consider him a project that has the raw ability.

I say we go after Stidham, Waller, and Francois (though I am not personally high on Francois). If we dont land any of those, we simply do not take a QB this year.

Multiple posts from random posters on Bama 247 board saying they have sources close to the program saying the Barnett's loved the visit and Bama is in the drivers seat

My conjecture, but I think this kid is picking based on pure depth chart now.

Barnett's decision-making ability is much like his throwing release. It takes a while to come out. He does fit Bama's offense better than Oregon's offense much like Waller fits Oregon and ND moreso than Bama. I think Boy Wonder made that point over and over to him during the visit so he is probably thinking about that a little bit. Once he stepped foot back out west, he probably forgot everything LK said to him.

if he goes to Bama though they will probably have him sit for 2 years though right? Kid's like him don't have the patience for that.

Depends. He could redshirt his freshman year and then have to compete with Cornwell and/or Bateman his second year. Of course, if Bama gets Eason then Barnett may not see the field at all. That's why I am not putting much stock in the Bama rumors. His path to playing time is much quicker and easier at Oregon. And his heart appears to be with the Ducks as well.

I don't know if true and didn't take the time to look for myself but a BGi poster is saying that the Bama boards are saying that Barnett has committed and it will be made public soon.

Over the past 72 hours or so there has been more and more buzz towards that... but I think he still makes a second visit to Oregon. Or maybe he doesn't. He's clearly quite impressionable.

This is an example of why I think it's dumb to judge kid's character based on 3rd party news and how they handle recruiting.

Two months ago, Blake was a golden boy with an A+ for 'off of the field'.

Chris Clark was a 'GTFO' because of how impressionable he was and had a new leader everytime he visited somewhere.

I'm not saying they're the same, because they're not (i.e., handle twitter differently and grade issues), but there seem to be some similarities.

Recruiting is stressful enough for us, and we can go 'oh well, next man in' if we miss on someone. These kids are choosing for themselves and I can't imagine how much pressure and stress there is.

T Town Tommy posted this gem this morning on a different thread. Hopkins will go to his grave insisting that Blake is going to Oregon.

Hopkins, Oregon mod on 247, would not commit to whether or not he will keep his crystal ball pick. Says that even if he does change it, "it's not the end."

"I rushed into my first commitment. I'm going to take my time, look around. Do it right. Oh, look, Bama!"
I've stopped caring about this kid aside from his domino effect on Waller. But he sure doesn't come off as particularly level-headed.

Reports are that Charles Powers think he will commit to Bama soon. He is usually pretty good with his info. Until I see Barnett cancel his Oregon visit I don't know if I would buy into anything just yet.

If there was any doubt about him getting a 5th star, he just sealed the deal.
