Here

So quick note on Kendall Hinton. I don't know if he's actually on the staff's radar at all... he's really undersized, but BY FAR the most prolific thrower of the football of any of the dudes that have popped up on the board the last few days. Has very Bridgewater-esque film and has a giant highlight tape of him just slinging it all over the yard.

I think he'd be a great add if we end up out of the running for the premium QBs we're currently looking at, and I hope the staff notices him.

Jr Year Highlight - Kendall Hinton highlights

Seriously... grab yourself a tall drink, watch those highlights, and then go watch the other QBs we're looking at. It's not even close. Hinton is dropping 50 yard dimes all over the field to WRs in stride.

Under The Radar: Kendall Hinton | Irish Turning Point

Might be a moot point with a Waller commitment potentially on the horizon, but Hinton is a baller who has had contact with ND.

Wish he had the speed to play CB or slot if he doesn't pan out at QB. Either way, I like the idea of taking an under-the-radar 3-star and going all in on Eason next year.

All you guys hating did you see that tape? He slings the Ball like it's not nothing. He is throwing straight beebees. I'm a fan of this kid. He is perfect for the spread offense. Damn he throws the ball effortlessly, better the Golson.

after watching the video i do have to agree with you on one thing. He does make it look so easy to throw the ball.

Kind of kid whose measurables make pro scouts anxious but will tear up college. He has great, natural mechanics for a high schooler. If he was 6'3" that is top 5 recruit style film.

That's the thing. If recruiting services are grading based on college potential, this kid should have a much higher rating. That film is sick.

If he's good enough for Cutcliffe to offer that should say more than enough...

This is exactly the the kind of things we used to say about Golson. Sign him up. We always need bodies at Qb. It's a fragile position.

Edit: I just watched his film. I have the exact same feeling as when I watched Golson's tape for the first time. Undersize kid with 5 star tape is spot on.

Where are you guys buying there rose colored glasses? I want a pair.

Seems like he has an adequate arm, but the first 5 bombs I saw on the highlights all get picked off if he throws them in college. I think everyone is being far too optimistic about this QB crop we have left to choose from. Could Stidham Waller Hinton and Francois all ball out? I guess. Is it likely? Hell no.

You do realize that Waller, Stidham and Francois are all very highly rated. Hinton is not and I can see your pessimism there but not with the others.

Yes agree. The reason why he is a 3 star is due to his size. But in college it doesn't matter.

His hs film reminds me of a mix between Golson and Bridgewater.

I'm fairly confident that BK can turn just about anyone into a serviceable QB. Bonus points if they have a stronger arm than Tommy Rees. This kid does. Sign him up.

ADDITIONAL HOT TAKES: he's got a receiver or two that are really smooth and accelerate well after the catch. Good slot prospects.

Considering he throws about 50 bombs in that film, it's not too bad. I'm not sure what you guys expect in watching HS film? These kids are 16, they are not supposed to be NFL QBs just yet. Hinton's film is just as good as Golson's and I watched that film several times as I was a big advocate for Golson when he was in HS. His film is not perfect, but he does have all the tools for BK to work with. At this point, having a guy like Hinton that can provide quality depth and can perhaps develop into a really good college QB is a great luxury.

Height is so overrated IMO. Sure, being tall is a nice thing to have if you're a QB. There are plenty of shorter QBs in college and the NFL that have been very successful.

As long as you're mobile, height doesn't really matter

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Hinton has a couple dozen deep throws and is almost always hitting the receiver in stride. I agree with what you're saying about his arm not being big but I don't understand what you mean about the passes getting picked off.

I actually think people have been rather measured in their evaluations/expectations. Stidham is basically a 5:s: guy. Do we have a legit shot at him? No. Francois, IMO, is a great DT prospect. Do we have a legit shot at him? Unlikely.

I haven't seen one person say they prefer Waller to Barnett despite Waller's lofty rankings.

With Hinton, it's simply a case of realizing that he has a 15 minute highlight video for a reason when most kids have a 2-5 minute video. He's consistently making great plays whereas others have glimpses of brilliance. All of his measurables (arm, height, build, etc.) are less than ideal for a QB but if what you're looking for is a bridge player to get to '16 because the great prospects like Brady White, etc. are off the board then I think this is your guy.

I actually think Hinton's arm is stronger then you are making it out to be. Saying that I would like to see him drill the ball over the middle, he seems to lolly pop it a bit. But his deep ball is a thing of beauty.

I also liked in his video you can see him going through his progressions, second and third options. Obviously that's excluding the deep ball, but you can see him do it on short to intermediate routes.

We had a QB in high school with an amazing arm (threw 96 mph on the mound) but wouldn't zip it over the middle because of the receiver's hands. The guy running that route often just couldn't catch that. If the kid has the arm to throw it harder then I wouldn't worry about it right now because that can be coached.

Yeah, his typical launch->land point is about 50-55 yards on his deep throws... and those are with great touch and spiral.

His mechanics are overall fantastic... very natural thrower.

The main knock on him is always going to be that he's somewhere between 5'10" and 6' tall, which is just really unfortunate. And he hasn't shined in camp settings well enough to get an Elite 11 invite or anything, although reviews have been generally very positive.

Anyways... there are lots of things to criticize, but his actual throwing of the football on film is pretty much lightyears ahead of most other prospects we're currently looking at, and anyone trying to nitpick it is just a negative nancy.
