Been a pretty hyped player in the state of Ohio for the past 3 years. Benedictine is a tough catholic school in Cleveland that plays a pretty tough schedule and usually cranks out several D 1 players every year. Would imagine that we're looking at him as an athletic LB. Dude can run and make plays. My gut tells me that urban and hoke will be hard to beat for this one and I wouldn't count out Dantonio either with his recent success. Would LOVE to get in on this recruitment, however, all 37 crystal balls at this time are in Urban's favor.

Are you sure Benedictine is a public school? I'm thinking it's an all male Catholic school but could be wrong.

“It’s just Notre Dame. Everybody knows about Notre Dame. I believe it’s the winningest program ever. Notre Dame is elite. They were just in the National Championship. It’s Notre Dame with its tradition. There is so much about Notre Dame that I love, it just really means a lot.”

Parents have stressed academics, tradition, and atmosphere to him, and that's what's he's looking at with every visit he takes. Will probably make a decision after his officials, but if he falls in love with a place on a visit, he could pull the trigger.

I'm not sure what the staff sees but I see this very similar to Jaylon in that he is a fantastic RB in HS because he's the best athlete on the field. However, I think his long term upside is LB. I think if he was evaluated solely as a LB he'd be one of the best in the country (top 5-10).

Size-Strength-Range
Lacks a bit of prototypical height and weight but he is an explosive athlete who has a strong frame and good size upside. Run and hit type with great range and pursuit speed. Closes strong and fast on the ball.
Instincts/Take On Skills
Excellent instincts. Quick off the snap and makes plays inside-out on run support. Does a great job beating blockers to the ball with his initial reads and quickness; rarely over-pursues and keeps proper angles and leverage on ball carrier. Shows great awareness skills in coverage. Strong take on skills; can hold his ground at the point of attack. Lateral agility is very good through traffic and off-tackle; mirrors back while keeping shoulders square and closes on ball with burst. .
Tackling
Strong, firm tackler who limits leaky yardage. Is very effective on backside drag-down tackles. Solid in the open-field, breaks down without lunging.
3rd Down Capabilities
Shows good awareness in coverage; reading targets that come into his zone and quickly jumping threats. Not overly fluid for a lighter LB but can drop and get to his spot. Displays the quickness to close and get into position to undercut the pass.
Bottom Line
Baker has all the physical attributes you for except ideal bulk but he has the mental makeup and intelligence to overcome that early in his college career. Our only concern at this stage is size but it should in time. High ceiling prospect.
Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: Displays very good playing strength and sideline range. Has good recognition skills and does a sound job of finding the ball carrier in traffic. Flashes a quick first step with good lateral agility to scrape and avoid. Takes good angles and has the burst to run sideline to sideline. A violent open field hitter who possesses good wrap ability. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Needs to add weight and overall strength to his frame. Coverage skills need some polish. ... BOTTOM LINE: Baker Jr. is a high-effort and versatile prospect at the linebacker position. Displays good speed and quickness and projects to have good upside with added bulk and strength that will improve his downhill skill set.

He told Scout that Elston has been recruiting him as a LB.

FWIW, he told Scout very similar comments about ND, the prestige and happy to be offered.
