Strength-Mobility
This is a prospect with a high ceiling for development physically. Has very good natural height and is only going to fill out his long, lanky frame with more bulk and strength over time. Has long limbs. Is built like Teddy Bridgewater. Is a long striding athlete that is a passer first, runner second and possesses the necessary athleticism to be a significant runner and also evade trouble under pressure. Speed is very good for the position.
Mental-Makeup
He is very poised and calm within the pocket. Does not get rattled and is capable of keeping his eyes downfield in the face of the rush. Plays and is deep shotgun spread offense where he is away from the line of scrimmage to be able to scan the field and get the ball out with good vision. He is a very patient passer. Will not look to one or escape unnecessarily. Knows he is athletic enough to keep the play alive but would prefer to dump the ball off. Plays within the scheme, has a good sense for timing and anticipation and does not attempt a lot of forced plays.
Accuracy
Throws a very catchable football. Is often, but with enough zip to fit the ball into tight windows on underneath routes. Leads receivers and generally does not spray the ball around. Changes ball speeds on the deep ball and can drop it in over the top of coverage. He is very light on his feet with good balance shoulder width apart and calmly delivers the football. Doesn't always appear to have great control the football. Ball will wobble on him.
Release/Arm Strength
Arm strength is adequate-to-good. We do not see supreme arm power, but rather the ability to make most of the necessary college throws when balanced and on time. Possesses adequate zip and velocity on short to intermediate routes. Throws well off balance and on the move, especially to his right. Shows touch on the deep ball and enough arm strength to stretch the field. Release mechanics are very consistent and over the top. He can be a little bit tense and deliberate in his methods. Does not possess a loose, smooth stroke. Ball comes out relatively quickly.
Bottom Line
Jones possesses the athleticism and upside as a passer to excel in the spread offense. He is a good ball handler and pays attention to detail. May not possess an elite skill set in any one particular area, but he's a very sound player overall. He has good feet and the ability to keep plays alive when necessary which forces the defense to have to account for all 11 players on offense. We like his demeanor and production.
Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: Has good size and strength with a frame that will support added muscle. Does a nice job of utilizing his feet to extend plays and create something out of nothing. Accurate throwing on the run and displays the ability to fit the ball into a tight window. Shows a live arm and is a dynamic runner who could develop into a WR prospect. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Raw, untapped player as a passer, but shows flashes. Pushes the ball at times and tends to get unrefined with his mechanics when throwing the deep ball. Arm strength is adequate, but will need to improve to be able to make all of the college level throws. Can be inconsistent with accuracy. ... BOTTOM LINE: Jones is an exciting playmaker. He is a cool customer and does a nice job of executing the offense. Improvement as a pocket passer will determine his future under center at the next level. Has a high upside in the spread offense and at times can be very difficult to defend.

Barnett’s gone: What’s next for Notre Dame at quarterback? | Inside the Irish
Multiple ND-centric sites are saying Jones is on Notre Dame’s radar, so who am I to say that he’s not. At almost 6-3 and with a 4o-yard time dash that’s a reported 4.6, he’s the type of dual-threat guy that on paper makes sense. With offers from Florida, Tennessee, Nebraska and Arizona, he’s got the pedigree and ability according to other coaches that run a similar style to Notre Dame’s.

It’s crazy to think that after losing out on Barnett, the Irish could throw out offers to 4-5 kids within a 50 mile radius of Barnett. But that gives you an idea of just how important holding your ground in Southern California really is.

Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Backup Plan at Quarterback for 2015 - Slap the Sign - A Notre Dame Fighting Irish Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.
Dual-threat Quarterback Sheriron Jones could be a prospect that Notre Dame offers. Jones hails from Moreno Valley, California. Rivals ranks him as the 10th best dual-threat Quarterback in the country and 243rd best prospect overall. Jones told Irish Illustrated in September 2013:

“I think Notre Dame has one of the best traditions, school traditions. It’s not just about last season. I watched them most of the time when I was young because they were like one of the top teams when I was younger … They’ve always been a team that’s up there.”

I've been going with "sure iron", but this was me when I first saw the thread:

I like his size and speed. Contrary to what they said, his offer list isn't that impressive for a four star. I would have expected a lot more. Not saying he's not good, just saying I would expect a better offer list.

Wilfong retweeted that he committed to Florida.

Doesn't seem like we were after him anyway, but one more QB to cross off of the board.

I was never impressed by Feleipe Franks as a recruit, but Florida peeps believe he might finally be the QB to pull them out of the post-Tebow hole.

How's he gonna do that from the bench while Zaire's starting?

Transferring again.

Transferred last year to Colorado for a few weeks and went back to Knoxville before the enrollment deadline.

I really liked this kid in the '15 class. Caught a game of his vs Poly and he looked good against a loaded Poly defense. What was even more impressive was a recruiting spotlight they did on him during the "Year of the QB" series. EXTREMELY well spoken.

Hopefully he lands at a G5 where he can show what he's got.

To recap - verbal to Florida, signed with Tenn where after one year he transferred to Colorado for two weeks, released by CO to return to Tenn, then left and was headed to Independence Community College aka Last Chance U Season 3. But he ended up at Mt. San Jacinto. He finally got signifiacant playing time and was 208 for 393 passing for 2,162 yards and 17 touchdowns and also rushed for 345 yards and five touchdowns in 2017. Jones transferred to Bob Davie's University of New Mexico.

In his junior season last year, Jones played in 11 games, starting seven despite starting the season as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart out of Fall camp. Starter Senior Coltin Gerhart went down with a foot injury. Second string QB Tevaka Tuioti went out with concussion symptoms.

Jones stepped in and last year led UNM by going for 102-for-187 for 1,417 yards and 13 touchdowns, was second on the team with 228 yards rushing with a long of 32 yds. He passed for 128.8 yds per game, with 13 TDs and 12 Ints, and a 128.32 passer rating.

Jones and Tuioti will vye for the starting role. The Irish are New Mexico's second game of the year, who open with Sam Houston State with a bye week before coming to South Bend.

The Lobos hired former Liberty Offensive Coordinator and QB coach, Joe Dailey, who has changed the offense from a triple option.
