This sucks.

Even if he doesn't make a decision within the week and still visits ND for II in June, he will be back at Oregon's campus July 7-10 for Nike's The Opening.

Phil Knight wins again. This is his payback for ND choosing Under Armor.

hate this news, but i'll take a flip in summer over winter. other fish in the sea. making the playoffs this year could convince someone else to flip to nd, or win back barnett.

Like last year at this time, most of the quarterback prospects are committed. Tyler Murray, heavily recruited by Oregon, will stay in Texas. Torrance Gibson is an Ohio State lean. Slim pickin's, and the July elite eleven competition hasn't started.

Alright nancy boys. Time to grab a sack and act like you got a pair. If he wants to go bitch out at another school and get a shit degree then ND is definitely not the place for him. I am tired of rationalizing the negatives of stuff like this. ND is one of the only institutions in the nation that can boast top flight academics and athletics. If a recruit can be talked into passing that up, then have at it hoss. But do not start with well South Bend is a dump and the weather sucks.... Blah blah.

I think he looked at depth at QB.

We are loaded.

Granted, he was elite. But Oregon sold him well.

They do have some fine cheerleaders/hookers at Oregon. They probably put a few a pairs of deluxe titties in his face and he fell in the panel(like we like to say around here). It's just like the first time you go to the strippers haha. Just imagine ACamp going to a visit and 10 beautiful asian women are in his face the whole week-end. The man would commit on the spot haha.

someone should tip off deadspin they would definitley write an article on something like this as it's kind of creepy and distrubing about this guys over involvement in the recruiting process

Uh, deadspin would be too busy masturbating with joy about ND losing an elite QB commit.

After seeing Zaire this spring this doesn't bother me. Blake would have to be extraordinary to leap Malik. Maybe blake will be that great, but we are fine for at least the next 3 years. Now if Zaire transferred its time bong some Clorox.

For most of the "sky is falling" crowd due to Barnett's position, we can still snag an underrated QB who is either a developmental project or undersized (like Golson....who committed in December and still was an EE) and be fine. I want him to stick badly but this doesn't blow our class up if he leaves.

Worst case IMO for our class we get a Golson or Devin Fuller type late in the cycle. Not ideal, but we don't automatically strike out on the position if he decommits.

Like Justin Brent, and many of the athletes notre Dame has been recruiting, Kizer has just recently devoted himself to being a football player. I think that Oregon, pointed this out to Barnett, that Notre Dame had already recruited a quarterback ahead of him with a similar skill set.

Neither Devin Butler, nor William Fuller play quarterback.

He's referring to Devin Fuller the dual-threat QB prospect from '12 who was a developmental passer but superior athlete. We passed once Kiel flipped to ND, and he's currently playing WR for UCLA.

Lol. A few years ago this would have bothered me. Now I just lol at it.

In the end ND will be fine with out without Blake.

I'm sorry, but this post is perfect.

If you decide to play for Notre Dame, make sure your ego is checked at the door.

It's not all titties, sprinkled cupcakes and rainbows.

It's God, Country, Notre Dame.

But hey, we've been here before. We've read this story. We're seasoned vets.

Supporting a recruit is NOT the same as supporting a player.

Recruits get a "you're welcome to contemplate what the greatness means".

Actual players get the full-on 'you're a man now' pledge.

At least from this longtime ND fan....

Devin fuller was a short qb recruit that other with UCLa a few years ago. I think he was saying that ND could snag a shorter, not ideal size QB with athleticism late in the cycle. Although iirc correctly, fuller was very highly rated

As an athlete I believe.

Whatever. That Oregon depth chart looks as enticing as ours. If Golson leaves after this season then Blake would be #2. Blake's not getting the starting job over Mahalak at Oregon at least until he's a sophomore, and even that is a stretch.

When we go 11-1 and USC and Stanford wax that Oregon ass this year I'll be smiling.

What are your thoughts on Josh Barajas, Jhonny Williams, Pete Mokwuah, Drue Tranquill, Greg Bryant, Max Redfield, Will Fuller, and Jarron Jones?

Based on my knowledge, none of them were the same as Barnett's recruitment. Barnett literally went out of his own way to show how committed he was, time after time, only to JUST NOW, have second thoughts? The one's mentioned either were typical flips or had incentive to jump ship. (Redfield jumped ship after USC's mediocre season put Kiffin on the hot seat) Ones like Tranquill, Williams and Mokwuah were just a matter of getting the big offer they wanted. None of them were committed to perennial football powers. With Barajas, he's from Indiana, loved ND and let's face it, Penn State isn't exactly a stable program right now. Paste point 3 for Jones and Fuller. Penn State is just gonna have to deal with the fact that scandal is going to make recruiting a lot harder, and keeping commits will be a bigger challenge.

It's really too bad that Mariota came back. I really have no clue why he did. If he didn't they'd be in line for a painful season.

As is, they avoid USC. They have a "tough" OOC game against MSU plus games against Stanford and UCLA in conference. Outside of that a lot of easy or mediocre teams.
