By the way..BK has taken over his recruitment personally

I think that information alone should tell you how important of a recruit the coaching staff believes he is. And BK certainly knows how to get his man when he sees to a recruitment personally.

I understand why a kid from teh midwest would REALLY like the idea of OSU. I also get that Urbie, like Saban, gets results. And he, like many other coaches, does not prevent his highly-rated recruits from making the pros.

HOWEVER, Urban is just so clearly slimey. The contrast between his persona and his program is like night and day. Other guys, like Richt, let things get out of hand out of weakness. And Saban is a maniac in the way I'd imagine a high ranking military officer in a combat zone might be (clearly using you, but not in a slimey way). But I would not trust Urban to take care of me for 4 years in any situation. If I was Percy Harvin or Tim Tebow, I guess that doesn't matter. But it does for most kids. He is like a smoother Kiffin to me. I actually trust Kiffin more.

I can understand really liking some coaches (Richt, Strong, Golden) and trusting certain programs (Stanford, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt). But I just don't see how a kid buys what Urban is selling if he has his eyes open.

When it comes to the average kid, recruit, fan, whatever... There is your answer...

I think my opinion of Urban is best expressed by saying that I think Lane Kiffin is a better person than he is. I don't know if I know how to insult someone more than that.

This is my new top insult - immediately followed by "If you ladies leave my island, if you survive recruit training, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of death praying for war. But until that day you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human fucking beings. You are nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian shit."

I don't know about you, but I was pretty impressionable at ages 17 & 18. lol

if Bk "has taken over" his recruitment at this stage, then JC ain't coming to ND, you dont put your closer out in the 4th inning.

but when you see a big fish getting away and could potentially impact another big fish...you send in the ace...at least it helps show how much the coaches want you to come here

I might agree with this usually, but both JC and Hilliard are trending away in the view of many. If BK steps in now - when both of them would like to have a decision before their season starts - it is essentially closing time. No matter what happens, we will not be said to have let them go easily. It also frees up his previous recruiter to focus on multiple other targets.

“My top group right now is Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, UCLA, Alabama and Notre Dame,” he said. “It’s just a mix of schools I’m high on right now.”

Along the lines of the previous conversation, I think BK has a specific skill; he helps quiet things down and simplify them for kids. As in here it is, what are you willing to achieve. And I think he has a folksy kidding way of pointing out bull shit spewn by others without resorting to negative recruiting.

I would love to sit down as a ND recruiter, with kids that have been promised to be "taken care of in the future" by a factory like tOSU and a piece of work like UM! To me that would be a target rich environment!

We checked in with a source that was able to get with the Cornell camp for a bit when he was showing out at the NFTC.

“One thing that Ohio State has going for them,” the source said, “is that Jashon's mother has a sister that lives in Columbus that she is close too. There's a certain segment of the family that prefers Ohio State because he will be able to have that support system in Columbus.

Said that Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State were the six schools that are sticking out for him.

Bleacher Report agrees with you FWIW. I think they have been way ahead of everyone else in his recruitment.

not quite but they said this.

Jason Cornell is a 4-star defensive end with a bright future. At 6'4" and 270 pounds, the Minnesota native has a ton of schools after him due to his size and first-step quickness.

Among Cornell's top suitors is Notre Dame, who 247Sports says is battling other programs such as Michigan, Ole Miss, Michigan State and Alabama.

Cornell will be announcing his decision on August 28, and that is when he will commit to playing for the Fighting Irish.

He's trolling all schools till August 28th then committing to ND

I kind of believe this. I think he is daring the staff to give up on him. I think he is looking for some love from the staff.

It makes too much sense for him to come to ND and he could have committed a while ago and been happy. I don't blame him at all for enjoying the process and trying to feel ND out on whether they really want him. I don't mean to sound like NDsean but his latest visit has always been his favorite. In my experience that is the type of thing that you hear from a kid who is enjoying the process. Live it up and then come home to ND.

Would rep you again but I can't. The southwest agrees with you GB.

His reviews of all of them all sound very similar too.
