To preface this let me say I'm not defending Manny and I'm not trying to pick a fight. What do you mean by the bolded? This seems to me to be one of those meaningless things people say when they want to be indignant about something. No respect for the game? I honestly don't know what that would mean.

He hit a catcher twice with his follow thru and threw a bat intentionally, you don't purposely try to injure another player then smirk about it. That's not the way the game should be played. Break up a double play, back someone off the plate, ok cool, that's playing hard. But you shouldn't try to hurt another player intentionally. Right I realize what happened and understood that you didn't say it. But, you brought it here because you agreed with it so I asked what it meant to you. Thank you for explaining.

Here's my problem with this though. The bolded parts are absolutely true but I don't know what the qualifier about "how the game is supposed to be played" has to do with it. You just don't that because it's messed up haha.

He has veteran leadership in the clubhouse to help him out. He is only 21 and not happy with his contract so maybe that has something to do with it. He can easily atone for his bad weekend.

Former player myself at a fairly high level. I agree that there are things that shouldn't be done I just think it's a stupid way of talking about it to say something like "that's not the way the game is played" or to talk about "respect for the game" or anything like that. If there is an articulable reason why something was out of bounds then articulate it. Don't hit me something so vague as to be meaningless like "respect for the game."
