Just saw it on twitter, the line starts behind me. Call me crazy, call me whatever, I will own ND stadium grass, holy ground, I will transplant it into my yard, eventually it will spread, so STAY OFF THE GRASS kid!

In 2006 I went to the #1/#2 Ohio State vs Michigan game, after the game we rushed the field and before long people were tearing up and taking chunks of the field since they were switching to turf the next season. So of course, I went to the endzone and snagged a ~3x2 piece of the O and carried it away. Still grows in the front yard of my mom's house. Pretty neat.

But fuck no I will not be paying $150 for a piece of turf that was laid down just a year ago.

The sod was replaced twice last year during the season. So this sod has about as much tradition in the stadium as a concession cup left in the stands. Maybe they will be selling the leftover cups for far less.

It is funny that they're putting in FieldTurf because the grass is so bad, but not bad enough to sell for $15 a square foot.

This is basically a Nigerian prince scam. Everyone knows there is no grass on the ND field.

I bought a set of coasters made of the AstroTurf from Soldier Field AND got a commemorative Walter Payton glass for $5 from Shell gas station in the 80's. Now THAT was a deal!

I'm about to pull the trigger. Just bought a house and the back yard looked like a baseball field. Laid down sod this afternoon, but left an open spot after I saw the release earlier. Not a great investment, but I'm going to convince myself it's justifiable somehow.

At first I thought there was no chance that I wasn't going to buy some. Then I read that the grass you would be buying was installed in late 2013 and only had 3 games played on it. Way to expensive and doesn't hold a tradition value for me.

It's still cool, but not at that price, for me anyways.

Brilliant marketing.

People who know this has absolutely no tradition behind it will simply pass. People who think this is the traditional grass dating back to Knute Rockne will buy it and be happy. Everyone will be happy and Notre Dame will make some dough.

I think I will pass and spend this dough on some cheap beer.

if you were a wise man you would buy a bunch of it now and sell it for profit on game days in the fall

bought it as a gift for my father, who am I joking, I bought it for me too! Just used fathers day as an excuse. I don't subscribe to the age=tradition/worth deal, this was grass in ND stadium and that an ND football game was played on. I think its totally awesome.

Could not agree more, picked my up and watering it again today. I could care less when it was put down, how long it was on there. My wife calls me crazy as do a few of my friends. But you hit the nail on the head, its from ND Stadium and ND Football has been played on it! The wife has her flower garden, I have my patch of grass. STAY OFF THE GRASS!!!

I hope it comes with a certificate saying it wasn't from the sidelines where the trainers roam.

I can see you now manually cutting that patch of grass with scissors and a ruler to make sure each blade is identical in height, rather than using a mower. lol

Now don't go raining on his parade. I think a lot more folks would have bought this if it were $50-$75.
