I watched Josh Rosen's tape for the first time just now. Is there something that Josh Rosen does better than Blake? I usually don't really put much stock in recruiting rankings, but I think it's a crime that Blake isn't a 5:s: on 247.

Rosen has a better release than Blake, but Blake definitely has Rosen beat at speed. Fixing a throwing motion is easy, you can't teach speed.

Rosen throws and incredibly pretty ball, and has very adequate-to-good arm strength with very decent mobility. He's a very polished prospect.

Barnett has a stronger arm, is bigger, and is faster. He has a much worse release and isn't nearly as polished.

To me... Rosen is like a meld of Luck and Clausen. Like Jimmy, very polished and plays on a super stacked team and is exceptionally accurate... also has Jimmy's ego by all accounts. Has athleticism a little bit worse than Luck, but I think will play similar (run to throw).

IMO, Barnett should be a top 50 prospect at minimum. I could reasonably see the case for him being a top 25 player. His team does not have a tenth of the talent around him that the higher ranked guys (Murray, Rosen, etc.) have.

Rosen also has a more college-ready arm and is more accurate. Blake definitely has more speed, but Rosen isn't some stiff back there. He can move well enough. And being more of a drop-back passer, that's all he needs.

Both are studs. Both can be 5 stars...the differences in their games are stark, but I believe both will be really successful at the next level (assuming Rosen doesn't alienate his teammates with his attitude).

Lax and LA, I agree 100% with you about Rosen being a more polished prospect and throws a prettier ball. But I have to disagree in saying that Rosen has a stronger arm.

I watched Blake's tape again and the play at 2:38 is incredible. Throws the ball from his own 14ish yard line while rolling to his right, and drops in a dime at the opponents 45 yard line. And he made that throw WITH a shitty throwing motion, just think how far he could've thrown it with a good motion. He also makes a number of long passes throughout the tape.

I'm not saying Blake has a stronger arm than Rosen, but I do think Blake's arm strength is equal to Rosen's arm strength

I said Barnett has a much stronger arm. Barnett has truly elite arm strength.

What I think Hollywood meant when he said "college ready arm" is that Rosen can step in Day 1 with very little coaching needed and sling the ball confidently all over the field. He doesn't have ELITE "Joe Flacco" arm strength like Barnett, but he can make every throw and his mechanics are very advanced. I think that's what he meant.

I was as excited after the first time watching Blake's tape as i have ever been about any ND prospect, and I've been following recruiting on and off for more than a decade. I've seen multiple QBs over the years with tape similar to Rosen's. I have extremely high hopes for Blake.

Here are my thoughts:

Rosen and Barnett are two very talented kids. Barnetts personality will take him a lot further with trust with his teammates than Rosen. I do not know about Rosens work ethic, but itd be hard to top Barnetts. Rosen is the top dog and Barnett/White are in the chase for that top spot. Rosen and Barnett are ideal fits for the offensive systems in place at their schools of choice. Rosen isnt as athletic as Hundley, but the way they run their pistol, fits Rosen well.

Both kids are going to ideal situations. Both have the chance to play early, as well as sit a year or two before getting thrown out there.

UCLA and ND both win here.

Of course Justin Hopkins I called him out on twitter and I am pretty sure he is a national mod but couldn't be any more of a Oregon homer. I called him out on twitter and everything he was even a douche when he stole Barnett sunshine and said he is committing to ND the weekend that he did

He said this today

I know the quarterback recruiting has frustrated many. And while the depth isn't where Oregon would like it to be, I remain optimistic that the Ducks have a legit chance with Notre Dame commit Blake Barnett. If Oregon can get him on campus at any time, I think that could be a game-changer. And frankly, I think he's an ideal fit for the Ducks.

How much you want to bet that every time Hopkins talks to Barnett he's telling him how "ideal" he would be at Oregon...

Really getting tired of the agenda of some recruiting guys.

I also read that Hopkins is trying quite hard to get in good with Blakes dad.

You weren't following recruiting back in the day, but the same thing has happened where recruiting guys pushed players to Notre dame. Tom Lemming told Myron Rolle that he would be a perfect fit for Notre dame and he would be a star of all stars at Notre dame. He pushed Notre dame so hard, that it had the opposite effect on Rolle.

This was the reason ESPN parted ways with Lemming

I believe Lemming also tried to push Lorenzo Booker to Note Dame

Several movers in 247Sports QB rankings

Finally moved from Pro-Style to Dual Threat in 24/7's rankings.

The top of the pro-style list remains largely unchanged with all of the top prospects living up to their reputation over the course of the spring. One minor change among the top five is the move of Blake Barnett from the pro-style category to dual-threat. One college staff noted that Barnett is athletic enough to be a major college wide receiver prospect but he remains a quarterback all the way.

JC Shurburtt from 247 has repeatedly said that while there might be some other quarterbacks in the 2015 class that are more highly rated, there is not one quarterback that is a better fit for what ND wants to do offensively. He has repeatedly called Barnett to ND a perfect fit.

I actually didn't talk to any schools but the big ones that came out were USC, Texas A&M, UCLA, Texas Tech, Michigan State, those are the top ones I can think of."

says school's are starting to back off.

Hard to beat that as a recruiting tool ... except the old fashioned unis. It would be nice to add a couple of guys that recruits watched when they were kids and not guys their dads or grandads did. Blake seems to be a guy who has potential to get something like that done.
