I know what you're saying, but still. What did that guard do to warrant such a physical outburst? To me the "Let's wait for the facts" corporate line is BS here. If he had slapped or hit him once, then maybe, but this was full tilt WWE.

Not to mention the handshake line punch was a pretty blatant red flag.

He may be in jail/prison, so the MSU offer would be a pretty big waste if the guy cant leave his cell...

I now have visions of him every Saturday sitting behind bars dressed in a Sparty uniform, with cleats and helmet on.

I guess dressing appropriately in court is better than not dressing appropriately...

But then again, so is not being there in the first place.

He's a reformed young man now. I got vbucks that say trouble will arise soon.

Weird world we live in. ND would never touch a kid like this. Heck, ND wouldn't even touch Nathan Starks. My highschool would never tolerate something like this either.

But MSU is fine with it, because he can throw a football. And we wonder why athletes are often poorly adjusted with a sense of entitlement.

I've actually heard from some Big Ten recruiting guys (primarily Van Haaren) that Jayru is a good kid that has been dealt a super tough hand, but also has had some bad past tendencies. He said Dantonio thinks he can turn things around throughout his senior season. Not making excuses (and it doesn't sound like these guys were either), just telling you what I heard.

It is important to allow people to redeem themselves. This last incident was not the first time he has been in trouble though. I think it is important to take the proper avenues when helping reform these young men. I don't think this is sending the right message in this case.

I definitely don't agree with that. This wasn't an instigated event where he was provoked. This was an egregious act of violence. I don't want to get into a back and forth on this if somebody disagrees, thats just how I feel.

This dude is on the clock...it's only a matter of time before he's behind bars. A societal menace in my opinion.

Gonna rant for a sec:

Nothing in the world drives me crazier, not even senseless attacks on a security guard, than when professional writers like the guy who wrote the Jayru article misuse the phrase "begging the question."

To "beg the question" is to assume what you are trying to prove. It's a logical fallacy.
http://afterdeadline.blogs.nytimes....he-question-again/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0

The phrase does not mean "raise the question."

So when this joker writes:

The law states that: A student in sixth grade or above who physically assaults an employee must be expelled but can apply for reinstatement after 180 school days.

That begs the question: Exactly why is Campbell still a student at Cass or any other school in DPS after missing school for less than three months?

he looks like a real amateur. Or his editor does.

/rant.

C'mon man... I was no angel at his age. Bad choice to slam the guard but its not the end of the world. Hopefully he does not steal any crab legs.

I understand your point, it was a vicious attack. He doesn't deserve a second chance but if he shows remorse/regret and learns from his mistake, I hope someone gives him another chance.

If I recall correctly, Pat Tillman served some time in juvy for beating the hell out of a kid. He got a second chance and we all know the rest of the story.

Exactly. Let's not crucify the kid yet. He has plenty of years to left to mess up. Just look at Santreal Henderson.

This is all just more of the evident hypocrisy that we use (we in our society) to justify our mindless, beyond commonsense self-justifying actions to appease our cravings.

As in Gore Vidal was correct : “We are beyond law, which is not unusual for an empire; unfortunately, we are also beyond common sense.”

Don't forget about the punch he threw at one of the other teams player after they lost.

Good Sportmanship at its finest

I punched a guy in the nuts for dunking on me when I was in high school. Then I went home with his girlfriend after a party the same night. #notacriminal

Kind of contradicts itself.

Or as Bobby Bowden was famous for saying, "Awww they'rrrre just gooood kids."
