From TJ on why we haven't offered. I said a few weeks ago I think this applies for Connor as well.

He's purely a MLB type and, taking only one there, they feel the need to fully evaluate and assess -- physically and football IQ-wise to play that position -- prospects as to fit and development potential. Same for a number of guys at the Mike, like Conner for example. BVG needs to know that his Mike, the captain and QB of the defense given all we do, can handle it and be trusted. That requires full evaluation and due diligence assessment.

This in response to if we'll recruit either one with Hilliard being a possibility.

TJ
Yes, provided BVG sees and hears what he needs to see and hear from any potential Mike LB. It's a high standard, though.

Also, Hillard would make an outstanding OLB (probably Will, possibly Sam) anyway. Could play Inside or Outside, so he's pretty much irrelevant to the pure Mike discussion. There's also a chance he could decide to pop before June camp.

Hilliard and Bilal would be amazing

Scout: Postponed decision to August. Texas has offered.

Hopefully he does attend the Irish Invasion now.

Agreed, I'd love to see him and Connor going through drills and work with the staff. II has made it clear though that Kirkland is in a different place than Connor, in that he already has a lot of good offers and may not feel the need to do so.

Being that he doesn't hold an offer from ND this shouldn't be a surprise. If we offer I think that lists changes

While I don't know why Ole Miss uses that, if the temp drops below 60 degrees a hot toddy is warranted and justifiable here. Usually cider and spiced rum here. Maybe coffee and liquor.

No Crap, NDr2, this was on an Old Miss site. Doesn't increase my appreciation of the "SEC intellect!" :

Ole Miss and "Hotty Toddy," there just can't be one without the other.

It's one of many strong, proud traditions in the SEC.

While Rebel fans shout it anytime they get the chance, fans from other schools often wonder what the saying and chant even mean. It's actually a very good question.

That being said, let's dig a little deeper into the mythical "Hotty Toddy."

Where Are the Origins of "Hotty Toddy?"

While it's a great question, there's no definitive answer. The mystery is part of what makes it so unique.

Just call it the Eighth Wonder of the World.

That's right, there's no concrete answer that explains what "Hotty Toddy" truly means.

Among some of the more popular "suggestions" of origin floating around are that it was developed after the Virginia Tech Regimantal Band called The Highty Tighties, derived from a cheer used throughout World War II, associated with the description of a warm alcoholic drink or a term that referred to the perceived sentiment of the Ole Miss student body.

To many Rebel fans, the possible Virginia Tech connection may be a surprising one. While The Highty Tighties didn't officially receive their name until 1919, the regimental band actually dates back to 1892.

The Virgina Tech Regimental Band website states:

“By 1919, the Regimental Band began to be known as the Highty-Tighties. The origin of the name has been hotly debated for years — some claimed it was part of a cheer, others claimed it sprang from a trip to Richmond where the Corps and Band marched in honor of Field Marshal Foch, the supreme allied commander of WW-I. Supposedly the drum major had dropped and then recovered his baton while rendering a salute in front of the reviewing stand and someone in the crowd yelled hoity-toity. Southwest Virginia slang had supposedly turned this into Highty-Tighty.”

Actually as an official Ole Miss reference, the first documented evidence of the phrase (then written as "Heighty! Tighty!") appeared in a November 19, 1926 copy of the student newspaper, The Mississippian.

In the newspaper that day, the following words appeared:

Heighty! Tighty!

Gosh A Mighty!

Who in the h--l are we?

Rim! Ram! Flim! Flam!

Ole Miss, by D--m

Ever since the first print appearance in 1926, the Ole Miss cheer has just been passed down from generation to generation of Rebels fans. Today, only the spelling is different than it was in 1926. [ED COMMENT : No shit! The reason for that is . . . spelling ain't learned until 17th grade!]

Most importantly, it's the answer to "Are You Ready?"

Are You Ready?

Hell Yeah! Damn Right!

Hotty Toddy, Gosh Almighty,

Who The Hell Are We? Hey!

Flim Flam, Bim Bam

Ole Miss By Damn!

What's It Mean Anyways?

Outside of being part of the answer to the question "Are You Ready?," "Hotty Toddy" is also a way one Ole Miss fan greets another. It's no different than an Alabama fan saying "Roll Tide" or a Texas A&M fan shouting "Gig' em Aggies."

We had a couple of cheers something like that :

Senior cheer

Seniors once, seniors twice!

Holy hu____g _____ _____t!

Shi_, s---, G-- damn!

Yeah, f---!

People were actually so shocked to hear it we rarely got punished.

And then there was the planetary cheer :

Planetary Cheer.

Up Earth;

Up Mars;

Up Uranus!

(optional : Bite it ref, you suck! or, Suck it ref, you bite!)

That's just what I remember hearing. Of course we in the cold weather states were much more precocious.

It stinks that we were late getting on this train, but what could have possibly convinced the staff that super-athletic LBs can be found in Indiana?

JK. Truth is, we have no idea how a kid reacts to a recruitment, so I'll withhold my judgment.

Kirkland is a pure MLB. We're targeting two LBs in this class -- an OLB and an Outside-In LB type who has the versatility to play either spot, essentially as a Will LB in BVG's scheme. That position (Jaylon's now) is more OLB in the 4-3 Over set and somewhat more ILB in the Under set.

If we take a pure 4-3 Mike type, he'd better have tremendous range and movement skills in addition to the typically required MLB skill set, mindset and profile. Kirkland isn't as high on the board there, or as ideal a fit, as some others that BVG simply prefers.

TJ, also said that regarding this topic.

Yes -- they really like the incoming class.

Two is the target; three is a desire/want, but luxury as of now. As described above. They wouldn't mind Hilliard and Bilal, no -- but the day wouldn't be called at LB recruiting, or recruiting generally. Always recruit!

TJ said that not me lol. Sorry forgot to add that

I think you are fine.

But if you (any other user) wants to simplify it, an old teacher of mine, I asked when I was having trouble recently told me to use quote marks. If it is what the other person said, quote, 'em. Or include all of what they said in a separate indented paragraph.

I find it very hard to talk about what someone else says, what I am saying and keep the them distinct. You are greatly improved, in my opinion. Reps, GB!

EDIT : And you points are pretty dead on usually, too!
