Size-Strength-Speed
Possesses a nice combination of size and strength at this stage. Good height and bulk, with a sturdy build and room to add more good mass to his frame with further physical development. Flashes very good playing strength and adequate initial quickness.
Versus the Run
Flashes ability to come off low and when he maintains good pad level can anchor one-on-one. Does need to watch pad level and doesn't consistently uncoil and explode into blockers on contact and can give ground. Good strength to press blockers, but needs to continue to improve hand usage and work to get off blocks quicker at times.
Pass Rush Skills
Flashes good bull rush ability when explodes off the ball with good pad level. Does a good job of getting his hands up. Possesses some good raw tools to be effective pass rusher, but an area for development as he looks to lack a plan and needs to continue to work on pass rush arsenal.
Toughness/Motor
Shows flashes, but doesn't seem to play as physical as capable of with consistency. A solid wrap-up tackler and will give effort in pursuit.
Bottom Line
Lampkin is a DL prospect that displays some good physical tools and upside. Could offer some versatility and potentially fit as 34 DE or DT. Good prospect, but we do feel he can still squeeze more from his natural ability and how much he maximizes it can determine whether a solid contributor or good starter.
Junior Eval
STRENGTHS: Possesses a good combination of size and strength. Shows powerful playing strength and demonstrates the ability to bring his hands, extend and shed blockers for penetrating stops. Flashes a good first step to penetrate. A high-effort player in chasing down plays. ... AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Technique needs to be developed particularly against the pass. Lacks balance when getting in position to make tackles. Needs to add more bulk and strength to his frame. ... BOTTOM LINE: Lampkin possesses a lot of physical tools. Could be a high-level prospect as well with further development to his technique and playing speed.

The Oklahoma website Football Brainiacs first reported that Lampkin had encountered a snag in enrolling at Texas, due to a foreign language requirement. Instead of taking summer school and still attempting to qualify at Texas, Lampkin said he's now looking at other options.

most likely headed to Oklahoma now
